I have a PSP, but it has been largely unused. I played through Maverick Hunter X and made two attempts at playing through FF7: Crisis Core but that was about it. Since I own an iPhone, the multimedia functions have been pretty useless for me and I don't see too much compelling software on the horizon. The biggest problem the system has is the fact they can't seem to attract enough developers and even when they do, it is treated as a 3rd rate platform simply due to the fact it's a portable. Sony also isn't helping matters with half-assed projects like the PSP Go. Strip features and raise the price - genius!

I finally finished Skies of Arcadia Legends... fantastic game, at least a 9 out of 10. The best part about it is that I actually didn't remember the ending from the first time I played it so it was like reliving it for the first time all over again. It really is a shame that Overworks never made a sequel to this game.

I don't drink at all actually... I'm a rather boring person.

I second this. If I write something down, I have a much higher chance of actually remembering it. Typing works for me too, but it really also depends on the subject. If it is something I have little to no interest in, it's a lot harder to retain. If it's something I am interested in, I will remember everything down to the smallest details.

Photoshop CS5 Is going to be insane
VT-Vincent replied to Shibathedog's topic in Nerd's Chatter [/nerds]
I ran it for quite a while on Vista x64, but when the 7 release candidate came out, I upgraded both my desktop and laptop to 7 x64. The only thing I find a bit annoying is having to remember to deactivate it before I reinstall the OS - if you forget, one of your two activations will not be available and you'll have to call Adobe to reactivate. -

I wish the DRM were a little less invasive, but it honestly doesn't bother me. It functions properly, doesn't prevent my use of the software I purchased and doesn't hinder my computer in any other way. The data that is written to the MBR is simply the activation status and it's written to this area so that other applications can't interfere with it and it can't be easily duplicated. -

I'm not too worried about the DRM - all of my software is actually purchased. When CS5 is officially announced, I'll probably pre-order Dreamweaver and Photoshop. -

I thought I saw mid-2010 somewhere. CS4 has been in production for a while now, so it's probably best to wait at this point. -
I actually never went to college but I have been employed in IT for the last 4 years. I started as a technician for Circuit City's Firedog and later became the department lead. A few months before the company died I moved on to another company as a contracted desktop support technician. I definitely want to move up in the future, but I think this is probably the field I'm best suited to.

Definately a good reason. I'm not sure if you've considered moving into Photoshop or not, but one resource I would strongly recommend if you are would be Adobe's Classroom in a Book on the topic. Although it's mostly geared towards photograhy, it does a great job going over the basics of Photoshop and was a huge help for me to make the switch. -
I have one, but I haven't made much use of it yet: http://www.youtube.com/vtemulation

PSP 7 was actually the last version I used as well. I liked it a lot, but it lacks a lot of the advanced features of Photoshop and I think that Photoshop's UI has a more optimal layout. If I'm not mistaken, the first version of Paint Shop Pro that Corel released was 10.0. They really didn't do much to improve it and they added some invasive DRM. -
Where do you get your gaming news?

I used to follow IGN many years back, but honestly I really don't keep up with gaming news much these days. I usually hear about major releases either in forums or from friends. -

I'm really impressed with how far Adobe has taken Photoshop over the years. I switched from Paint Shop Pro (when it used to be owned by JASC) to Photoshop around 7.0 and virtually every upgrade along the way has been worthwhile. I have to admit though, I would like to see some other editors step up their game and give Adobe some competition. For a while, it looked like JASC might have a true Photoshop competitor on their hands with Paint Shop Pro but then Corel bought them and ruined it like everything else they touch. -
What? You're not going to play with the Windows 7 playing cards or play Windows 7 Twister? lol

Not to be politically incorrect, but I would be very curious to know how exactly all four of these people came to know each other.

Sorry to hear you're leaving. I would be curious to know what forums don't have disagreement though. I'm an administrator of my own small forum and a long time member of many others. Despite how much or how little a forum is moderated, there is always disagreement. Sometimes it's over an issue or someone just rubs someone else the wrong way - it's a community, that's what happens and it's inevitable. I would recommend reconsidering your decision though if it was only due to one or a small group of people. If I had left every forum that had someone I wasn't particularly fond of in it, I would've left just about all of them (including my own!). I wish you luck in the future though, wherever you happen to go. -
You right - Microsoft has definitely lost their minds. The whole Windows 7 marketing campaign (like the others that came before it - anyone remember "the wow is now"?) is asinine. I've gotten at least 5 invites to these stupid parties. Their commercials for the actual OS are pretty awful too... they don't seem to have any idea what features to pitch since it's really just a Service Pack 3 for Vista, so instead their trying (and failing at) the cool/artistic approach.

So, I'm having a problem with a friend

Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya... -
I admit the situation infuriates me... these little douches have so little respect for other people's property. They probably can't even comprehend the value of something like this as they've probably never worked a day in their lives. The worst part about it is that all I can really do is set up the spotlight and camera to deter it from happening again. The police in this town are next to worthless unless someone is getting shot. Even with video evidence in broad daylight, I doubt they would touch it. Also, I finally had a chance to take my car to get a good cleaning... and unfortunately, it did make it through the paint. There are several tiny chips in the paint where the egg impacted. I guess I can add this to the door with the ding in it (some idiot dented my door with theirs in a parking lot and it was only week 2 of owning the car).

VT-Vincent replied to Explosive Misanthropy's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
She is very lucky to have you as a friend, but from what you've said it sounds like she made her decision. There unfortunately comes a point where there's nothing more you can do and you can't waste your life trying to fix someone else's, particularly someone who doesn't want their life in order. This kind of situational is very unfortunate because of how many people it hurts... it affects her child, her true friends and likely her parents. When you ignore the harm you're causing all three, it can only be summed up in one word - selfishness. -

I don't mean to sound like an insensitive ass, but she's 20 years old - she's an adult capable of making her own decisions and accepting the consequences of those decisions. If she chooses to associate with someone who has a questionable past that she's well aware of, then she will need to accept the consequences for that. I can understand much it would hurt to loose a friend over this, but it's important to realize that if that happened, it would have been by her decision that the friendship was broken off. Regarding having her child taken away, I think you need to look at it objectively. The intent of this would be to protect the well being of the child, if the authorities felt the need to intervene in such a drastic way, isn't there a possibility that it could be justified? -
Late last night, I think I may have actually seen who did it. Two kids walked directly down the road and stopped dead looking at the spot on the driver side where the car was hit (it has since been cleaned off). They stood there for a few seconds and turned back in the direction they came from. I could also hear a lot of talking on the feed, but I could only make out bits and peices. I am going to see if I can find some software to isolate the voices and clear out the cricket chirping and other background noise. The funny thing is, I am actually trying to set this up as a web-viewable camera but I'm still working on the software end of it. The program that would seem to do what I want it to, Webcam XP is having trouble recording the video in anything other than uncompressed video. If I can get the WMV9 encoder working, I'll probably to go with that. For now, I'm just manually starting the recording at night with Hauppauge's WinTV application. Even with the MPEG-2 compression, the video still comes out to about 1GB per hour.

Well, I woke up Friday morning to a nice little surprise - my car was egged! Unfortunately, it's only 6 months old and this isn't the first time something like this has happened. Egg is pretty nasty, and if it's not cleaned off quickly it can easily eat away at the paint. Luckily for me, it didn't damage the paint job. This brought me to a fun little weekend project. Since I don't intend on letting this happen again, I decided to set up a camera outside and keep it fixed on my car. I have a computer in the basement that's recording the feed. I can't wait to catch the little bastards in the act:

Out of curiosity, have you ever considered putting an alarm on your door? GE makes these wireless door/window alarms that you could mount to your door and simply turn on when you go to bed. That way, if you leave the room in your sleep the alarm will wake you up. Personally, I've never sleep walked (that I know of), but I have had the odd feeling that I woke up in the morning and started getting ready, but in reality I fell back asleep right after I turned the alarm off.
