Anyone else notice that EMU-LMAO died?
VT-Vincent replied to Alpha's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I noticed it a while back, I think they decided to stop paying for their domain. -
Artistically, the game is very nice and holds it's own within the franchise. The problem is the repetitive and tedious nature of the game. Side-quests are much more drawn out and several of them branch off into different quests. This requires you to do the same quest over and over again. Everything is also time dependent, if you miss a key event only by a minute you'll need to reset time and restart the entire process. The time system was an interesting mechanic, but it felt like Nintendo just used it as a cheap way to lengthen the gameplay time. The difficulty was also another annoying point of the game. It seemed to fluctuate all over the place with no rhyme or reason and many of the difficult fights felt more like battling the game engine than the enemy. A good example would be the boss of the Great Bay Temple, it was probably one of the hardest and most annoying fights in the game. Contrary to that, the final battles were a breeze. Overall, the game just feels rushed and lacks the refinement and polish of other titles in the franchise.

Finally finished Majora's Mask tonight. The final dungeons were actually extremely easy as was the final battle. All in all though, I'd have to say this is probably the most obnoxious Zelda game I've ever played (CD-i crap excluded, of course).

Yay, just what I wanted - a 2 year contract lock-in and $60+/mo bill for my game console!

I'd have to say Little Caesars Pizza is probably one of my all time favorite foods. It's complete junk food and a whole pizza is only $5 but it has a certain taste that is completely unique to it. A close second would by own Tacos.

Actually, I didn't mind the visuals that much. The graphics felt reminiscent of the Genesis games while being appropriately upscaled for today's consoles. The Wii version is noticeably lower quality since the system is limited to 480p, but the 360 version looks great. I would agree that it's important to try new things, but that only holds true when those new things don't suck. Time and time again Sega has tried to re-invent the franchise by adding new elements and mechanics and pretty much all of them sucked. I know a lot of people like the air dash, but to me it has always seemed like something that looks better than it actually plays. I don't think you are being too hard on it at all, we are going on a decade and a half of fail for this franchise.

I just had a chance to play it. It's very impressive, especially for a fan production. I think the most important aspect they got right is maintaining the same physics as the classic Genesis games. Sonic doesn't feel like he's moving through mud like in STH4 and there's no annoying ass homing attack. Why that's the one modern Sonic mechanic Dimps felt the need to add in to STH4 is beyond me.

Kros: I like the chair, I'd be curious to see how powerful that sub in the back is. Having good seating is definately essential, I used to use an office chair for my gaming when I had the TV in my bedroom. Playing or watching TV from the bed was next to impossible... it's comfortable for the first 15 minutes but it's a nightmare after that. When I finally got my own apartment, I ended up getting this for the living room: http://www.vcf.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servl...ryId=4294967256 Shiba: Is she using the room for something else? If not, lay down the law. I like Samsung and I've heard good things about LG, but I have owned Sony TVs for the last 15+ years so I figured I'd keep the brand loyalty going. The fact it was $200 cheaper than the comperable Samsung was also somewhat of a contributing factor. The model number for the new TV is KDL-46EX500. Ken: Very nice TV, I take it you have a media center PC hiding behind it? My TV stand is pretty deep so I do the same thing.

Krosigrim: Thanks, that count is pretty close the only thing is I don't have any Genesis games though. I think you're looking at my GBA storage boxes from the side, they are about the same size since each one holds three games. I only have two Lunar games there for the PSX. I'm kind of a clean freak so that's why the setup is so neat. The only downside about the way it's organized right now is I barely have any room for new games. I'll probably need to replace that media tower in a year or so. This carpet is definitely not one of the highlights of my apartment, it's scratchy landlord-grade carpet that has been well (ab)used by the previous tennants.

Just bought this beauty a few days ago, it's quite a step up from my old 32":

Still playing Majora's Mask, just completed the 3rd dungeon (cursing all the while). The difficulty and repetition of this game is insane, I'm starting to see why I never played more than an hour into it before.

How can I record gameplay at full fps?
VT-Vincent replied to Lucandrake's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
This is a tough one, as Ken mentioned you need additional hardware to take in the input from the first computer. I was able to do this by using a Hauppauge HD PVR, an external HD component capture box. In order to do it the way I did, you'll need the following: 1) Source computer with a graphics card capable of outputting video via Component (in my case, it was a GeForce 7900GS) 2) Recording computer with a USB 2.0 port and a reasonably good processor (anything above a Pentium 4 should do) 3) The Hauppauge HD PVR capture box, or a different capture box that offers the same functionality. 4) An HDTV with component input to use as a monitor. You'll need this as the HD PVR is a hardware-based encoder and the feed you see on the recording computer will be delayed by 1-2 seconds. It's pretty much impossible to play a game like this. Here is how the components are connected: Source Computer -to- HD PVR (In) via Component HD PVR -to- Recording Computer via USB HD PVR (Out) -to- HDTV via Component Unfortunately, there are a lot of caveats to doing it this way. One thing I've found is that the HD PVR is extremely picky about the resolution the computer is outputting. You can only expect this to work well if the computer is outputting either 720 or 1080. Any other non-HD resolutions will be completely hit-or-miss. Depending on your card, you may also have overscan issues where about half of an inch of the screen may cut off on each side. This kind of setup takes a lot of patience and trial-and-error testing. Here is one of the videos I made using this method: http://www.youtube.com/vtemulation#p/a/u/2/mNRpANVtV0M -

I thought someone tried a while back... even if they did, another nut would just pop up.

It looks to be accurate, the major news sources are picking it up.

I really fail to see what this pastor is trying to accomplish, it's a terrible idea. Regardless of what you think of Islam it's extremely hateful to intentionally desecrate a book that a very large group of people consider to be holy. This isn't going to enhance our already tarnished image in the Muslim world. In regards to the mosque, I think it's in poor taste to build it so close to the WTC site but at the same time it's completely legal so there's really not much of a debate there.

What are your biggest video game what if's?
VT-Vincent replied to dosamania's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
What if Nintendo purchased Sega's intellectual property after the death of the Dreamcast? Sega always had decent licenses and ideas, but everything they touch has a way of turning to shit. I would love to see what a competent company could do with their licenses. -
Well, I finally got it taken care of today. Went back to the same dentist and tried again with the numbing agent. She gave me three shots and the damn nerve wasn't numbed in the slightest.

I could quite frankly, just be a "loser"
VT-Vincent replied to Devia Eleven's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I don't think you can reduce life to a mere pass/fail grade. You're clearly unhappy with the way things are going for you and that's important to recognize. From there you need to stop, reflect and figure out what is making you feel that way. Are you not living up standards you set for yourself, or standards that others have set for you? If these feeling are based on what others think of you, you need to ignore them and focus on where you want your life to go. -
The whole experience was odd. Everyone told me the needle would be the worst part and it honestly didn't bother me. She started drilling, broke through the enamel and started working on the dentin. Up to that point, there was no problem but as she moved deeper, I felt a really strong jolt of pain. From there, she gave me the second shot but it still didn't do a thing for me. I'll probably end up going to another dentist, preferably one that put me out for the rest of this ordeal. It's really embarrassing that I could deal with heart surgery but a stupid cavity is becoming this much of a problem.
