  1. I don't think BP is able to get the Midway optimised core working in CoinOPS. Every time there's a question about it he either ignores it or just brushes it off. If this were implemented it would be a major reason to use CoinOPS so I'm pretty sure that if it could be done he would have done it by now.
  2. In that case, go through http://maws.mameworld.info look through every game later than 1994 and list all the ones that say they were ported to the Sony Playstation. These are the PSX games that should be added to CoinOPS if any.
  3. Didn't know that. According to Wikipedia, there's only 5 games for the Super Grafx, hardly seems worth the separate DAT. It may seem so but it is technically a separate system so No-Intro are just being thorough and following their own rules for one DAT per system. I much prefer this to DATs that lump systems together such as Genesis and 32X in the Goodset.
  4. 1941 is not a PC Engine game. It's for the Super Grafx which was kind of an upgraded PCE with just a few games released for it. No-Intro has a separate DAT for this system.
  5. No-Intro only has a few variant dumps for each game, all from actual cartridges. For 90% of games this just means 1 or 2 regional variants. There are no garbage dumps such as those in the Goodsets. It's also worth mentioning that No-Intro provide parent-clone DATs which can be used to easily turn a full set into a 1G1R (1-Game-1-Rom) set or even a US only set in just a few seconds. There are many other reasons why No-Intro DATs are so highly regarded and there are no others available that provide such a combination of accuracy and flexibility.
  6. I don't see it as particularly fair that you lose your member status while BP retains his. I'm not taking sides here but I don't see that his conduct towards you and other members has been any less offensive/inflammatory than yours has towards him.
  7. Just my opinion but I have to say I'm not a fan of either of those looks. The first one I can't see being suitable for any emulator with a large list of games and the other two just look like a mess to me. I much prefer the existing CoinOPS look. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
  8. Does this mean there will be complete and accurate DATs for all supported games in the next release?
  9. Actually it's a port of the PC version. Since we're being anal.
  10. I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty certain madmab not releasing sources doesn't have anything to do with you. He's probably just doing as XPort did, waiting until all his builds are released and then releasing sources at the end.
  11. I simply stated that,if you are including consoles in an arcade emulator then PSX makes the most sense since it has so many arcade ports that are unplayable otherwise. I didn't recommend anything.
  12. I would say not possible since, if I recall right, those Midway games use an entirely different CPU to those emulated by FBA. Here's hoping it finds its way into CoinOPS some day though.
  13. Oh dear, I hope I didn't get anyone's hopes up. A new emu is out of the question. Contrary to what my red banner says I'm no emu author, like BP I was only ever just a tweaker standing on the shoulders of real coding geniuses. Besides as I recall even XPort tried to port a newer MAME core to the Xbox and wasn't able to get the control system working properly. That isn't to say it wouldn't be possible to port a few newer drivers to the current core. If I had the time to get back into developing I'd enjoy the challenge of taking a look at CoinOPS with a mind to updating a lot of the sets, maybe adding some more drivers, and getting rid of all the console stuff but I've worked with the MAME code before and it's nowhere near as user-friendly as the FBA code. Plus the fact that there's no easy way to generate DATs would be a huge problem. That being said there probably isn't too much need for a 'CoinOPS Pro' at the moment. BP seems fairly good at implementing all the different things people are asking for and I'm sure it's only a matter of time before the initial excitement of all the console stuff passes and CoinOPS goes back to focusing on arcade games again.
  14. There is actually some logic to including a PSX core since there are many arcade conversions for the system that aren't playable in MAME (Street Fighter EX, Tekken, Strider 2, etc.). If anything I'd say this is the one console that should possibly be included in an arcade emulator.

How do you know? Assuming you're planning to release your sources I may have a go one day.

    'CoinOPS Pro' anyone???

It's well worth the extra time you'll spend, especially considering that many of the emus are now being updated with new features by madmab.

If that really is your name tristanx then you actually have the same first name as me.
  19. It almost looks like you're missing some files. Have you checked the paths in the project file? The build I had the most experience with compiling is likklebaer's build and I don't recall getting any of those errors.
  20. What errors are you getting? Are they the same for all builds?
  21. It's not that I'd be unwilling to help but I don't have a development environment set up on my PC or Xbox anymore. I'm not sure about KI-XXX but I can tell you from personal experience that both lantus' and likklebaer's builds of KI compile with no problems.
  22. Any chance of seeing the Midway core implemented? I get the impression there's some kind of problem with adding command line support to the older MAMEoX source but that shouldn't be a problem since didn't you add the command line support that's currently present in CoinOPS? Anyway I think this would be the biggest improvement by far.

Lol, don't big that up too much. All I did was tweak a few things and give it a slightly cooler sounding name.

i personally would like to see just arcade only. xport & snes already have fine emu's for consoles. why not focus on non-fba/fbl titles only too. we have fba/fbl which work really well. i know nothing will be 100% perfect, but too many options ie arcade/consoles with a ton of cores could lower the quality of the emu as a whole. I would agree with this. CoinOPS is a fine arcade emulator and I personally think it should stick to what it does best. The console stuff just seems like bloat to me. For anyone who is serious about playing console games there is no substitute for Xport's emulators. I would like to see the focus shifted back to arcade games and have voted accordingly.
