UPDATE: - Several ROM updates/changes (see DATs for details). Enjoy.
-
Awesome. JB's DAT is my main source of ROM info for FBA-XXX Pro. Thanks for the news.
-
DAT files are only used to show you which ROMs you have or need. They are not used by the emulator at all and changing them will have no effect on the supported sets. To play those games you will need to have the necessary ROMs as listed in the DATs. Alternatively you could try giving your zipfiles the 'fully decrypted' set names (mslug4nd.zip, mslug5nd.zip, samsh5nd.zip, svcnd.zip) and try running them with the 'No CRC' option set to on. If your ROMs are decrypted and the sizes and names are correct then this might work. But basically, FBA-XXX Pro is for only those who want to use the latest and most accurate ROMsets. If all you want to do is play the games then you're probably better off using the official FBA-XXX.

UPDATE: - Added driver for kf10thep. (by iq_132) - Fixed mvsca/mvscb DAT problem. Sorry it's been a while in coming.
-
Are you sure you're not using an old DAT by mistake? I just checked the one from the latest fbaxxxpro_patch.rar and everything is as it should be (kof10th is recognized and all ROMs and naming conventions are up-to-date). I've re-uploaded the archive just to be sure but it seems like this is a problem at your end.
-
None of those sets show up in any of the DATs I have so that means that they are almost certainly all ROM hacks (including kof96 evo). Thanks for the list though and I'm glad you enjoy FBA-XXX Pro.
-
Works great . Thanks IQ, you're a legend as always. Updated patch on the way.
-
Do you happen to have a driver for it? If so I'll be sure and add it to the next build of FBA-XXX Pro. Thanks.
-
Is this a genuine bootleg or just another ROM hack? EDIT: What's up with Gogo's forum, BTW?
-
UPDATE: Okay, here it is. This new FBA-XXX Pro build combines the fixes and features of FBA-XXX 08/26 with the stability of 08/02 and of course the Pro ROMsets. Everything I've tested on it plays perfectly but please let me know if you come across any problems.
-
To be honest, I'm not in any great hurry to fix this since the exact same code works perfectly in the 08/02 based build. The problem must be caused by changes to the FBA-XXX code in 08/26. So I would suggest using the patch2 build for now. I've been considering putting together a best-of-both build that would add several of the improvements from 08/26 with (hopefully) none of the bugs. Then this would be the only FBA-XXX Pro build and we'd be back to just one patch.
-
Which patch are you using? I'm using the patch2 build and have no sound problems with any Metal Slug 5 set.
-
These fixes are just to make the Pro ROMsets compatible with some of the new code. I don't want to make any major changes to the FBA-XXX codebase since any bugs that exist will probably be fixed by Gogo in future releases. Out of interest though, what are the issues you're referring to? I understand the 08/26 build has a few, but I've been finding the 08/02 build quite stable and bug-free thus far.
-
UPDATE: - Fixed mslug5 freezing issue. Sound is also working perfectly.
-
Which Metal Slug 5 set? I just tried mslug5d which uses the encrypted V ROMs and there were no sound problems at all. EDIT: The fully encrypted mslug5 set now seems to freeze up during loading with the patch2 build. Fixed patches will be up soon.
-
I understand what you're saying, but I don't want people to make the mistake of thinking that the patch for the 08/02 Pro build needs to be applied to the original 08/02 build of FBA-XXX. Since both patches are for the latest version of FBA-XXX I just named them patch1 and patch2.
-
UPDATE: - Fixed samsho5/samsh5sp sound problem.
-
UPDATE: - Hopefully fixed kof2k4se sound. (the original V ROMs were fine they just need to be loaded in reverse order in the driver) - Re-added bootlegs sf2toryu, sf2tory2, and sf2ce13. EDIT: I'm looking into the samsho5/samsh5sp sound problem. I think it could be a memory issue to do with the V ROM decryption. In the meantime use the fully decrypted samsh5nd/ss5spnd sets which work fine.
-
Thanks for the testing guys. I'll get some fixed patches out later today.
-
Both patches need to be applied to the latest FBA-XXX. It would be pointless to have patches work with previous versions because, as you point out, they aren't available any more. For ms4plus, take all the necessary ROMs as listed in Romcenter, and zip them up together as a self-contained set called 'ms4plus.zip'. It should boot and play just fine.
-
EDIT: ms4plus is working fine for me with both patches. Check your ROMset is correct. Keep in mind that if you go back to any Pro (or FBA-XXX) build prior to 08/02 you'll have to put up with the awful sound-glitching problem that Gogo fixed recently. Overall I think 08/02 is the best version of FBA-XXX to date.
-
You have Gogo to thank for all the recent improvements to FBA-XXX. As I said, all I'm doing is updating and adding ROMsets. BTW, has anyone tested out the kof10thu or kof2k4se drivers yet? I'm just curious to know if they work or not.
-
*shrugs* I dunno. All the Pro build does is update the ROMsets. Everything else is exactly the same as FBA-XXX. So any performance problems are most likely down to issues with the original code. If you're having the problem with Pro patch1 then try patch2 and see if it's still there with the older (and, it would seem, more stable) codebase.
-
The 'fix' function in Romcenter can only rename any ROMs that are incorrectly named or import ROMs from other sets if necessary. It can't create new ROMs that you don't have. You need to look at the CRC numbers of the ROMs that are missing from your sets (the ones in red) then download a patch that creates that ROM from one you already have. If you are really having problems with this then I would suggest using the non-Pro version of FBA-XXX since it supports ROMsets that are much easier to find, and you may well find you have them already. Pro is called Pro for a reason, because it uses the latest and most accurate ROMs in its supported sets. If you're not bothered about using the most up-to-date ROM dumps and just want to play the games then there's really no reason to be using the Pro build at all.
-
You're not supposed to open the DATs with notepad. Go to www.romcenter.com and download Romcenter then load the FBA-XXX Pro Romcenter DAT with it. Now if you drag your ROM folder into Romcenter it will show you the state of your ROMsets including exactly what you have and exactly what you're missing.
