The first 5 episodes (the intro to the main characters, basically) are kind of cliche and cheezy, but it gets more interesting after that. Things get even better once the whole ensemble cast is in the show.

I'm going to E3 this year (yay me!), but I don't think I'm going to be able to take anyone.

I use just plain old AIM w/deadAIM. All my friends use AIM, so there's no point in registering for all the others for me. I long for the heyday of ICQ, before AOL bought it and it became bloatware. ICQ used to be a mean, streamlined little thing, but now it's all hideous. I miss offline messaging. Stupid AOL. I want mozilla to make a messenger with the same principles they used with Firefox. Something with a really tiny footprint, a really simple, but fully functional interface, and perfect plugin implementation.

Neat. The GC one kind of reminds me of Mega Man Power Battles.

Yes. It's not that they'll be tearing booths down and whatnot, but the size of the crowd would quadruple, and you would have to worry more about that minority who would get unruly. Plus, and this is going to sound weird, but the show's not really geared toward consumers.

Gran Turismo 4 - Ok, the game is still kind of a pain in the ass. If you don't know what you're getting into from your first car purchase, you could seriously screw yourself over. Here's a hint: Your first car should have a one-model race for it at the manufacturer, like the miata.

Well, if you can handle any necessary perspective, you could do that with a photoshop brush pretty easily, I would think.

They should have done the art in an old school style. That would just top it all off nicely.

Gah, what IS it though? (See my old post) I want to import it with a freeloader, but I want to know what the hell kind of game it is before I drop 80 bones on it.

There's also an expansion and a "gold" edition, which I would imagine has the expansion in it. So, if you like the demo, you might want to look for those. Fair warning though, it's not for the faint of heart. Try it on easy so you can save mid-combat without cheating. Nice, off to DL. Edit: Would you happen to know if the stuff from the 3.1 map pack is included in the full install of 3.2?

Hey...where did you get that from? Did you buy it or did you acquire it through other means? I really want to play that game. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I got it when I worked at a video game shop. They sent out free copies to managers, and mine didn't want it. Actually, the disks say "store manager copy" on them. I sort of got the impression that it's rare outside of europe, is that what you've found?

So are the GameCube ones basically 3d fighters then? Do they have any depth as fighters or are they pretty basic? The impression I got from the reviews was that it was kind of like virtua fighter but with the complexity of smash bros. Is that accurate? I understand that 4 people can play, but how does that work in a 3d fighter? Do you have to target a specific person? Or is it really just a smash-bros. style 2d platformer where you hit each other or something?

I considered mentioning this very level, as it stands so high above the rest. I liked the rest a lot too though, so I didn't bring it up.

I watched a few episodes of this a couple of nights back. It was actually pretty cool. I'm not a huge boxing fan or anything, but these guys are definately more entertaining than the big pay-per-view fights.

Oh yeah, and Mechwarrior: Mercenaries. The game was my least favorite in the series, but it had a free-play mode where you could use an Elemental (human-sized suit, basically) and put yourself up against a few Dire Wolves (100 Ton walking tanks). It was a unique experience as far as the mechwarrior games went.

For that matter, if you've played the GameCube ones, I'd like to know. I haven't played any of them but have been considering them.

Thief (the first one) - The first level set it up to be awesome. Everything after that was a dissapointment by comparison.

You'll get even MORE out of it.

Making any of the starting cars worth a damn beyond the Sunday cup takes more than skill. Either you tweak the settings or you race the easy races over and over and over until you get sick of it and trade the game in. Or you import 100K from your GT3 save, buy a lotus, and forget about the whole thing. But that's just not the same.
