CTRL+I sometimes works in media player. I've gotten it to work on.avis such as ANBU and AOne's Naruto subs. I think it depends on the media.

I played the demo of killzone, and heard friends talk about the full version. They said it was decent as long as you weren't expecting Halo. It's slower, more like a WW2 FPS in a sci-fi coating, rather than a sci-fi run n' gun like Halo or Doom 3.

Target stores cutting into loiterers' business
Daeval replied to Daeval's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Yeah, they did remove the page. It was a listing for "Marijuana," for I think about $25, with no picture and no description, and a shipping size well under a square inch. It was a book, as others (and the amazon link from the target site) pointed out, but it wasn't blatantly obvious just looking at the page. -
I think we've had this thread before, but what the hell, they're fun, so here goes: Gunstar Heroes General Chaos Sonic 2 & 3 (I think there's a collection with 1-3) Strider Flashback Jurrasic Park (Hard as hell, but fun) Almost anything with "Shinobi" in the title.

Doh, and you were doing so good too!

Oh yeah, that technique.. Hehe.. Meh, it's used like three times in the first five episodes and then it doesn't come up again for at least 45 more. And the circumstances are far from erotic, unless you get a kick out of young boys disguised as women and shocked older men. (Oh yeah, and a few times in the episodes with Konohamaru, but the situation is basically the same)

Heh, you must have miss out the big boob grandma <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I've been watching them in order and I haven't seen them all yet. But, in the first 70 episodes there hasn't been much in the way of t+a. Seeing as that's over half the episodes, I don't imagine t+a to be the #1 reason the show has fans. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I tot the 1st few episodes should inspire a lot of hentai fans <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not hentai, dammit! It's ecchi at best. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What is ecchi? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Deja Vu... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Huh?!? Did i ask before? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Look at this post: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...ndpost&p=106268 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't see how the first few episodes qualify for even that. Unless you can't handle your stereotypical schoolgirl crush, I suppose. Unless I'm forgetting something...

A considerable number of our frequent posters are already "anime/hentai/cosplay addicts," it just kind of goes with the territory. There are so many more focused message boards out there that I don't think we're going to attract a horde of the worst posters if we open our own. However, giving the resident fans their own forum would keep anime-related dealings away from where you'd have to see them. This I like. I always thought it would be cool if the reviews could be organized and accessable from the main site, rather than buried away in a sub-forum, but that would be even more work. Like we really need one more place in the world for meatheaded jocks to biatch about their favorite groups of sweaty men. Part of what I like about this forum is that the people are more intelligent than that. Ah touche. Just kidding, but until the anime fans start posting bad cosplay pictures of themselves, realize that to each there is his own. More personal profile stuff would be cool, as would the blog and blog-like features. Those might be a lot of work to implement though. I'm against the idea of a public "bare knuckle" forum, however. Strong Opinions can be stated anywhere on the forum, but Flame Wars and personal attacks are outlawed to the benefit of the entire board. Those can be handled over private means if needed.

Boobs? Have you ever seen Naruto? Breasts serve more prominently in your sig than in any episode I've ever seen.

Another reason not to go -Jorge Galvan's Site-
Daeval replied to Hiroshi Nohara's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I'm with you, I wouldn't trust this guy as far as I could throw 'im: http://mx.geocities.com/mauriciomaciasm3/jorgegalvan.html -
Hmm.. Most of the things I can think of would require at least a little investment.. - A shoutcast or other streaming station would be cool, and wouldn't have to be huge (IE, someone could probably even host it on a cable). Dunno what it would feature other than the talk show. There are some emulation music chanels out there but I can't see how anyone actually listens to those. And then there's the issue of copyright. *shrug* It's an idea, someone else make it practical. - More Online Gaming content? Maybe it's too far astray from the emu focus, but it seems like we have enough gamers here that this would be successful. Maybe a 1emu clan or a tournament ladder or something like that? A clan would be a form of advertisement itself, especially if we had a server, and a tournament might be a draw for new people. Maybe this could be a chance to get new affiliates also (people who could host servers, for example)? This could even trickle over to the XBox with the Live! games, and since modded emulation-xboxes are popular, maybe we could work with that? - The downloads section - others have mentioned it. Maybe we could turn it into a more practical version of Zophar's Domain's emulator list? Just list the best/most popular emulators and have them available for download (or at least link to their sites). This would have to be regularly updated, of course, but since we do front-page news for new or updated emus, that shouldn't be a huge issue. We might also include tutorials to setup the more complicated emus or how-to's on utilities and things like Kalliera? Just throwin' out some ideas P.S. I'll second the vote for an anime section. Subsections might be a bit much, as there are only one or two series that really get much attention, but a forum wouldn't hurt. A stickied and moderated thread for.torrent releases would rock if allowable, and could be a draw.

Yeah, what Cinder said. Most of those hotfixes fix security holes in windows and IE. They should not cause any outstanding issues. It's easy to blame them because they show up all the time and seem "useless," but their effect on your daily activities, aside from the important passive protection they offer, is next to nothing. If some company is blaming one of them for a bug, it's more likely that that company has been negligent to patch their program for that particular security hole in windows. I'm curious, what company told you to do this, and for what piece of software?

That does seem like a pretty accurate description of DBZ.
-
The characters have a lot more, well, character than DBZs, and the action is a lot better. There are a lot of characters who at first seem like crappy two-dimensional "filler" characters, but nearly all of them get fleshed out in interesting ways (and not just "OH, I'm really strong too!"). There's talking, but it's in good proportion to the action/suspense. There's also a good sense of, I guess "mystery" would be the best word, as the show deals with a bunch of sneaky ninja types, both good and bad. Most of that is due to the characters "being one step ahead" of one another during conflicts, which makes for some cool surprises. And yeah, there are a ton of episodes, but I've just been watching them a batch at a time. I don't watch much TV, so it's nice to be able to relax and watch 3 or 4 episodes every couple of nights, and they're pretty short episodes. They're also good at suspense, so you want to watch the next one as soon as possible. I started watching maybe a month ago, and I'm already nearing the 50th episode. Also, watch them in order, you'll probably be able to understand it, but you'll miss out on a lot of good moments and character development.

Bush Seeks Funds for Abstinence Education
Daeval replied to KyokugenKiss's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
That is flocking beautiful. It doesn't just apply to 3rd world countries either, there are plenty of families in the US with more kids than they can economically manage. I think the idea of "it'll never work, they're teenagers" is kind of defeatist. I'm not sure this program is it, but definetly something needs to be done. It's pretty well documented that kids are getting more and more stupid about sex in the US, and overpopulation is quickly becoming a worldwide issue (well, it IS a worldwide issue, it's just getting more attention). Our culture as a nation certainly holds at least part of the blame, watch any TV show popular with a high school crowd and you'll see what I mean. If you think of things in larger terms, maybe teaching abstinence to 3rd world countries isn't the best idea. For one, it's kind of pretentious, seeing as we have the same problem only it's masked by our ridiculous wealth as a nation. Maybe we should teach our population not to be idiots, and use the savings that result to help 3rd world countries with things that will actually further their ability to help themselves. The problem is effectively dealing with the problem anywhere. It is kind of a natural human urge to breed, or at least to "practice." -
Yeah, these games are decent and kind of underrated in a mainstream sense. I think part of the reason I and others can't quite get into it, besides the unusual character designs, are the character movesets. I like them because they're different, but where most games will have a good core of staples and a few oddball characters, GG is almost all oddballs. Part of my evidence for this is that a good 75% of the "normal" fighter players I've talked to have liked Chipp most of all, and he's the closest thing to a traditional (shoto) character in the game.

How did they say this had "shattered" the human evolution theory? It seems like evolution would account for a braching like this, but maybe I'm not familiar with the specific theory they're talking about. (PS, let's not turn this into another Creation vs Evolution thread - think what you want, I just want to hear what "the papers" said)

This is basically a dead horse, but I'll throw in my 2 cents anyway... I didn't play any single player, but I watched a few different people play it at various points in the campaign and it looked as solid as any other standard FPS. Nothing amazing (it didn't have the creepyness of Doom 3 or the immersiveness of Half-Life 2), but it looked like a fun little romp. The levels looked much better than Halo 1's endless identical hallways. The multiplayer (LAN mode) was quite a bit better than the first game. The weapons seemed far more balanced in that there was actually reason to use something other than the pistol, sniper rifle, or rocket launcher, which dominated the old one. The levels had a much better flow, and the placement of weapons and things rewarded movement more than the first, making the game's pace a little more like Unreal Tournament's. The dual weapons thing is a cute gimmick, but nothing more, and the fact that you can't throw grenades while dual-weilding balances it out nicely. The graphics were good, but the majority of the architecture is still basic geometric shapes and they do stand out a bit against the excellent special effects. I would say that the Halo series is now almost on par with the status quo for PC FPS games. It would make a nice $39.99 title on PC, but I'd hesitate to pay the $50 price reserved for must-have titles. There just wasn't enough content to justify that much, and it doesn't really do anything I haven't seen before. That's not saying that it isn't a lot of fun though.

How much of this irrlicht engine did you code?

Something about cramming boneless bird carcasses up each others' asses stacking-doll style just doesn't appeal to me.. And the thing looks more like a Headcrab than a turkey has any right to.

This may also be of interest: http://dsc.discovery.com/news/afp/20041025/hobbit.html Definitely cool stuff.

Out of curiosity, why do you say that? My gf cards have been nothing but good to me, and it was ATI that was terrible about its driver support until recently. Nowadays they're about even in terms of ease-of-use.

If you're just looking to be able to play those things at a decent speed, get yourself 512MB of DDR and find someone selling a GeForce 4 Ti4600 on ebay and you'll be fine. It doesn't sound like your PC is all that bad off. Obviously, an even better video card will mean even better performance. You might check out http://www.anandtech.com for performance comparisons and pricing.
