Microsoft Sued Over Broken Xbox DVD Drive
Daeval replied to Gryph's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I think it's 90 days or whatever you buy at the store. My old work used to offer 1 year question-free replacement for 20 bucks, assuming it didn't look like you used it as a skate ramp or something. Regardless, a repair job is cheaper than a lawyer, and you can't really blame M$ unless you can prove it's some kind of design flaw or negligence. -
Childish internet spitting contests are not what I associate with 1Emu. I wish all involved would get over this ridiculous anomaly in the board's usually mature behavior and get things back to normal, including the return of K'dash's informative posts and well-spoken opinions.

Yeah, this is the kind of thing that's covered by a warranty, not a lawsuit. Now, if the guy had found some obvious technical issue that was neglected, then he'd have a case. I'm not a huge x-box/micro$oft fan, but this is kind of ridiculous. -
I am deeply touched by your kindness. There aren't many people like you around. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lol.. Assuming that wasn't painfully sarcastic, thanks.

That gift horse is gunna bite your nose off if you don't quit it. And seriously, they were all ripped then carefully cropped and resized three times each for the best look under different icon uses, then turned into XP format icons with alpha layers, etc. There was nothing "difficult" about it per se, and I never claimed there was, but it was undeniably a lot of work and shared out of the kindness of my heart.

Correction, looks like GTA 1 & 2 gone Nintendo.

Ah, you're right! That's a really important difference. They go to about 120MB max, nowhere near 1000MB (or 1GB). The smaller carts are in mbits too, so 256M isn't as many megabytes, but really more like 30 something.

Dang, that review was freaking harsh.. The game has its problems to be sure, but the reviewer is obviously not an SNK fan at all. He completely shot his credibility with this line: Sure, the animations aren't the greatest, but he obviously didn't play against Dhalsim or Balrog, not to mention Vega or Guile. That and he plays a 2D fighter on an XBox pad and has the balls to biatch about controls. I give this reviewer 2 stars out of 5.

Thanks for the info! Do you know if you can swap games on and off the cart, or is a game on there for good once it's there? kaioshade's post seems to imply you can...
-
Some of these "linker" carts are quite large (1GB!) and come with loaders, which seems to imply that they can hold more than one game? And it seems like you can swap games on and off the cart using the linker cable?

Eh, it's not really about the copyright in this case, even if that's what's mentioned in the letter. This is the applicable paragraph: Something tells me, if they hadn't mentioned copyright infringement in the letter and instead just asked nicely to have it removed, none of you all would be complaining. Unfortunately, that letter was left to the lawyers because that's how big businesses are used to operating. What was sent in the end was essentially a form letter (just fill in the copyrighted works) that was probably written by a combination of lawyers and nintendo officials for legitimate "cease and desist" use. Since they don't have a "please don't mention our stuff on your porn site, but thanks for liking it" form letter already written and approved, they sent the most relevant one they had, even if it wasn't.

http://www.webmonkey.com Not sure how they are anymore, but they used to have some decent begginer tutorials. All you really need is notepad and an image editor (GIMP should work and is free, or PhotoShop if you have it). You can go the WYSIWYG route, but that's not l33t. (and if you don't know what that acronym meant, it's time to start reading). You can always just google search for some tutorials and stuff, there's tons out there. Start with a basic "I want to make a webpage" article, move on to basic HTML, then Tables and Frames. From there, I like CSS and maybe learn how to incorporate javascript for rollovers and stuff. A lot of people like Flash and Dreamweaver for really fancy things these days, but 90% of the time they just bloat out a page.

This could be just what Nintendo needs to hook the 16-20something market it's missing right now. Seriously though.. On the one hand, I can see where Nintendo would be concerned about having its properties mentioned on a porn site. On the other hand, it's somebody's "favorites" list, whatever! It's not like they're advertising kinky cosplay sex in Samus costumes or something. Chances are, whoever had to send that email from Nintendo felt just as stupid about it.

May Lee rocks.. Screw how powerful she is or isn't, she's a more interesting character than many of the newer ones, and more fitting in the KOF world than her contemporaries the "our designers watch too much anime" team. She should not have replaced King, but that's her only real crime. I'd pick her over Hinako anyday. And Ramon isn't bad either. He probably doesn't belong with Vanessa and Seth, and he's a little wacky, but he's cool. He could use some tweaking, but he plays differently enough that I like him. KyokugenKiss, how could you say you want Butt, and then say that Yuri plays too much like Ryu? All three have their differences, but they're equally similar, IMO (if that makes any sense). The new MI characters are... OK... They all look pretty retarted, but at least a few of them have movesets that would be interesting in 2D. Alba and the blonde girl would be decent if converted. The capoeira guy is kind of boring, and the cat-girl is just dumb. And yes, KOF2K4 should be 2D. 3D is a cute novelty, but MI plays more like bloody roar than KOF, and should remain a spin-off of the tried-and-true 2D titles.

Psuedo-zombie post.. The Worst moments thread made me remember: Virtua Fighter 4 (Cant' remember if it was Evo or not), my Kage vs. his Wolf: The full-healthed Wolf has me down to almost nothing, and has trapped me in the corner against high, unbreakable walls (I think it was the snow stage?). While desperately avoiding the death blow, I manage to pull Kage's Tomoe-Nage (Back + P + G) and by some miracle toss him clear over the walls to make my comeback with a single move. Ring-outs are normally frowned upon among my friends, but everyone but Wolf's player considered that entire match won by style before round 2.

From the top of my head (and the NRx list): Tekken 2, Primal Rage, the Dungeons and Dragons beat-em-ups, Golden Axe 2, Kabuki Klash, Alien vs. Predator, Breakers and Breakers Revenge, Galaxy Fight, Karnov's Revenge, most of the Samurai Showdowns, Mutation Nation, all the World Heroes, Spider-Man (the old school one w/ black cat).

Hehe, no prob, just thought I'd (jokingly) annoy you about it
-
Only up to episode 9, where they reveal kakashi's covered eye (and his sharingan ability) for the first time.
-
There is apparently a frame where Hugo turns into something more like a re-colored Poison, but I must have missed it. I think what I got was more amusing anyway.

Probably because the movie contains so much philosophical questions and alot of talk, rather than non-stop action. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I actually like that kind of thing, its presentation in that movie just didn't float my boat. Notice that Lain is second on my list for doing that kind of thing in a way that I appreciated more.
-
Lol. Gaah, you weren't supposed to confirm my suspicion that it's Sasuke with Sharingan eyes! If he has any Sharingan ability, I wasn't aware of it yet!

Series: Cowboy Bebop hands down, Lain a close second, FLCL probably comes in a lagging third. As I watch it, Naruto is looking like it will end up on this list somewhere too. Movie: Tough one.. I like Knockin' on Heaven's Door, but mostly in relation to the series. I liked how the movie went out of its way to portray the everyday people of Cowboy Bebop's solar system as a whole (right from the opening sequence), while the series tended to focus only on the particular characters. That gave it a little more edge than the usual "really long episode" plots of series-turned-movies (although aside from what's mentioned, that's basically what it was). Other than that, I don't know. I'm tempted to say Princess Mononoke, but I know that probably doesn't belong in this spot for me. I've actually never seen Spriggan, Ninja Scroll, or Akira in their entirety, and I didn't like Ghost in the Shell very much at all.

I'm lazy as a sprite ripper. I just did these for fun really, and it took at least an hour, probably far more, just to get the single-frame caps and crop them and everything. Besides, they all do the exact same thing: Wither to skin and bones and then explode. I didn't want to animate that 36 times, and I can't imagine wanting to watch it 36 times either. The interesting thing to me was what they looked like transformed. Glad you enjoyed them anyway! Thanks!

I'm going through the series in order, and I've just seen the Sharingan Kakashi episode. Ryuken, if your sig is a mad spoiler I'm going to be angry.
