  1. Alright, here's all the Midnight Bliss sprites: (Modem Users beware: about 350KB) http://www.geocities.com/daeval_sx8/SVCMB.html They're all done in high-res with edge-enhancement on in NRx, and I haven't bothered splitting them into individual gifs yet. If you want to do that, go ahead. If the edge-enhancement bothers you, go find 'em elsewhere. These were done just so that people could see what they look like (and for my own amusement). Edit: Looks like a few colors were lost in the conversion to gif, most notably in ken and terrys' hair. If anyone wants accurately colored psds of any character (in both frames) just let me know. And Darkmage, no offense taken, and the gif looks nice. I just didn't want to spend "most of an afternoon" working on it.
  2. I still think you can do it. Use SFA3 sprite. 1. Standing Bison. 2. Slowly moving to the side, disappearing. 3. Mega Psycho Crusher. 4. Reappearing, standing. 5. Repeat. You should know what I mean <{POST_SNAPBACK}> SFA Stay-Puff Marshmallow Bison is an insult to the character. The Chaos sprite is nice but that particular move just loses its granduer when ripped out of context. The amount of work wouldn't be worth it, IMO. Now if I had a way to rip the CvS2 Level 3 Psycho Crusher, that would be something different... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, we do have Chankast, don't we? but hey, since you want to do something on SVC, can you do GIF of Demitri changing all the characters into the female Super moves for every characters? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well I don't have chankast or the rom, and I've got in on PS2, so we're back in the "too much work for a sprite rip" category. However, I'm way ahead of you on the Midnight Bliss thing. I didn't bother capping the entire sequence for every character, but I got transparent shots of everyone (including bosses) in their transformed states. I figure that's the interesting part anyway. I'll post 'em later.

  4. Games shouldn't be kept or removed based on how difficult it is to beat the high score.. That would entirely defeat the purpose of setting such a high score in the first place. Unless, of course, the game is assinine like Hold or a few of the others.
  5. They play a little differently. MI is far more combo happy, where SFEX makes better use of the traditional style. MI plays more like a mortal kombat game (DA, particularly) or Bloody Roar, with it's dial-a-combos and the like, than a Capcom or SNK fighter. That's not to say it's bad, that's just how it plays.
  6. I've heard that lypsynching on live shows like this is pretty common, and usually imposed by record companies, producers, etc. The lead of one of my favorite bands was even bitching about this - that he felt really stupid lypsynching in front of an audience who was expecting a live performance (and their live performances are always very unique, so it was extra-stupid). If this is true, the "played the wrong song" excuse would make sense. That said, it was pretty funny seeing her dance around like an idiot after the screw up. And blaming her band was uneccessary, whether it was true or not. That doesn't win you points with anyone.
  7. How long have you had the RAM you're using? When I bought my recent system, I had a similar problem and memory tests checked out ok despite the continuing issue. After a little more testing and google searching, I figured out that I had to tweak the RAM settings in my BIOS for my specific RAM sticks. Since I've done that, everything works like a charm. And no, I didn't have to slow it down or anything, just set it to the right (high-perf) options instead of auto-detect everything. Also, it could be a heating issue, as gryph, myself, and others have mentioned. Get a prog to monitor your CPU temp as you work and watch for spikes or warnings.
  8. I've heard of crap like this before. I remember one where he paid them to fake-kidnap the wife, and they actually kidnapped her and ran off. Bet that guy felt even more stupid than this one.
  9. No prob, enjoy! As for Bison's Exceed move.. It's going to look exceedingly stupid if I try to do the entire thing from start to finish, mainly because there's no good way to loop it. I could do him flying in place, or flying accross a gif, but even that's going to look goofy. So, for now, this project is on pause.
  10. Emsley's got it, that sounds like bad RAM. Also possibly over-heating, but usually that would have other effects as well (especially on an AMD chip). Time to run the memory checker, one stick at a time. Or if you're using multiple sticks, you could just try running normally with one stick in, and see if it still crashes.
  11. Anyone know if any of these links are reliable sellers?
  12. That's important news. Where did it come from, out of curiosity?
  13. Screw the attention, climbing a building without gear like that would be a rush enough on its own.
  14. I think it's cool that they decided to bring back 94, but I'm not entirely sure I like how they're doing it. Basically, they updated everything but the game's only really annoying aspect: the gameplay. It wasn't bad, per se, but it's definately dated. And the graphics they have updated are sort of looking half-assed (although they do look better in the more recent screenshots, especially the special effects). I'd almost prefer if they'd left it alone and released it in a multi-pack with a few of the other games, maybe just adding the option to customize teams. Either that, or re-do the visuals and update the gameplay so it plays more like a recent game, but with the classic roster. Either way, I agree that it's nice of them to put out fanservice like this. I'm curious what the price point will be though.
  15. I hope you're talking about the King combo guy.. I was able to pull Orchid's near-infinite, and could hold my own with Glacier, Spinal, and the werewolf guy. That's the thing about KI though: once you memorize a few kombos, you've basically learned all there is to learn with the character. You might as well go play this: Still, I guess I can sort of understand the appeal. So, I'll leave you KI fans alone now.
  16. Style over substance. Sadly that's what most of the entertainment industry is now (that includes games). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Real style and substance alike take a backseat to Profit in our entertainment industry.
  17. The "OS" is pogoshell, and it is a very handy program for the gba. in addition to.mod playback, it also has loopynes built into the program, so you can just load nes roms directly from pogoshell. It supports save compression, so you can have multiple saves for each rom you have on your flash card. It even saves the sram so if you flash a game save it, and delete it, you can reload the rom and still have your save file there. It is very handy for flash linkers and is pretty much a must have for flash cart owners. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Awesome, that's exactly the info I was looking for. Thanks!
  18. Yes, Ultra are more or less automated, but that doesn't take the satisfaction away, since you still have to do something to pull it off. If you reember the Ultra starter, that's all there is to it really. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm with ugenn on this one. In my arcade, KI's forgotten contemporary, Primal Rage, was right accross (face to face with) the KI machine. While most of the arcade memorized their dial-a-combos for KI, me and a few others were busy figuring out the more challenging "lightning" combos for PR. To me, those were far more rewarding because completing them was more work than the simon-esque autocombos of Killer Instinct. Seeing the lighting flash accross the screen and your opponent utterly decimated by something you'd pulled off using actual gameplay skills was just more of an event than hearing the killer instinct guy say "MEGA KOMBO" or whatever for the 8,000th time.
  19. Did you have any idea how hard this would be when you suggested it?! Hehehe.. As a fellow Bison fan, I'm working on it. It's tough because of the really fast start up, but I think I've almost got all the frames. Thanks for the comments all!
  20. Mr. Karate was one of the ones I was happiest with, while Earthquake or Balrog were probably my least favorite. I tried to at least get the things that were iconic to the character, when the pose meant I couldn't get a clear shot. Stuff like Shin Akuma's kanji or bits of familiar colored gi. And L.S.D., is there any particular gif you'd like?
  21. A short-session (9 week) class just ended for me and to celebrate my newfound free time I wasted a bunch of it creating a set of Icons from SVC:Chaos. Some characters came out better than others. More info and downloads can be found at my geos**ties space, which also recieved a half-hour facelift, here: http://www.geocities.com/daeval_sx8/index.html Comments welcome. Next on my list, fixing that dang fuzzy avatar. Blast you 1emu for revealing that flaw not a week after I'd deleted the source file.
  22. Sounds like you may need to trigger some ports. Don't ask me which though. Look into the board's documentation?
  23. Aikido rocks! If you have any interest in a defensive art like the one L.S.D. was talking about, Aikido should be right up your alley. There usually aren't full-contact competitions though, as many of the techniques would leave competitors with fractured hands and wrists, among other things. Although I did know a guy who took Aikido to some kind of contact level; not someone I had any interest in messing with. ;P And if TKD sounds good to you, just do it, dangit. If you find out you don't like it, you can always look elsewhere once you have a better idea of what it's like (and have maybe made some connections with people who know of other places to train, etc).
  24. Juijutsu is technically just "hand to hand fighting." It's not really a specific style, it's the blanket japanese word that covers all the "jutsu"s, which later became the "do"s. People like to add their own adjectives to the word though, such as the relatively recent and extremely popular Brazilian Juijutsu (Sometimes Gracie Juijutsu). BJJ isn't really "juijutsu" so much as an extention of Judo's ground game with the safety precautions taken out (IE, Judo doesn't use ankle locks because of the potential for permanent damage. BJJ doesn't care, it uses them because they're effective, etc), but they call it "Juijutsu" anyway. It's probably something like this that you heard of. Possibly Aiki-Juijutsu? And Axl, from the sound of it, you shouldn't worry about what people tell you is going to win you "real life" fights or whatever. Just find a dojo that teaches something that sounds fun to you and run with it. Whether it's high kicks or capoiera antics, just go for it. Chances are good you'll get what you want out of it and have a blast in the process. EDIT: SHOULD NOT worry, I was tired
  25. At one time, I had a complete set of snapshots for MAME32.84. And for some unfathomable reason I deleted them. (I just made that word up, because it's really late and I need sleep, but I kind of like it) My question now is, where the heck did I get them to begin with?! The MAME32 site links to fileplanet, which is absolutely miserable about it. I couldn't even find any of the archives not directly linked from MAME32QA, and even if I'd had, I'd have to put up with fileplanet's miserable interface for 80-some downloads. Where else can I get these things? Thank you much...
