  1. So after 1 year of college, I've come to realize that I really don't know how to study. Sure I can read, I can memorize some of the data the teacher throws at me, I can even write down notes in my palms while taking a test (although publicly, I don't do that). Having failed my first exam this semester(due to my lack of study's), I've decided to do something about it. I wish to learn HOW to study effectively, so for the next few weeks I'm going to read a subject matter for an hour a day to attempt to stick it into my head as permanent knowledge. Any of you got ideas or tips on how to accomplish this? Better yet, do any of you realize differences between you and your peers concerning the rate of knowledge you gain? Is it easier for you to recall information and if so why do you think that? Is there a magic pill that determines intellect or are we all doomed to do the same "hard work" in order to gain it? Whatever, just post your thoughts, I think I've asked the same question with more than one form enough times already. One last question, how important is education (not a degree, knowledge itself) in life?
  2. Most of the stuff I like is already listed, but I just gotta say, "Once Upon a Time in America" is one hell of a film.
  3. You e-mailed her telling her you where willing to help her. Even offered her rides so that she would eventually learn how to help herself. Making her life harder than it already is (by pressing charges) won't help much and will further spread that barrier you two already have. I know it sounds stupid, and you still have to forgive yourself, but try forgiving her for the stupid shit she did.
  4. If you press charges you'll come off as a hypocrite. Everything else on the subject that I want to say is better served for a vocal conversation. After writing 3 paragraphs, I simply felt that there was too much direction with too little insight.
  5. I was disappointed when I found out that the role of Freddy wouldn't be played by Robert. To a sense, he is what made the character fucking awesome. His smile still makes me glee with insanity when watching the movies. That being said, I have high hopes for the new Freddy, Jackie Earle Haley. He was awesome in Watchmen playing Rorschach, even though the ending sucked huge donkey dicks in that movie. I hope he'll be able to add a serious tone I feel Freddy much deserves. Warning:Text beyond this point has nothing to do with the re-make, more of my child-hood with the series. Anyways, after watching the trailer I had a sudden urge of watching one of the movies after 5 something years (I used to watch them every other weekend during my noob years here on 1Emu). I popped Freddy's Dead (with 3D head-ache glasses!) and was freaked out at how my perspective's have changed. I remember enjoying it, because I considered it "good". Now I enjoy it because I consider it stupid! All I could do though is question reason, purpose, plot-holes (holy shit does this movie answer a lot of the series questions only to add 50 more, I recall a scene where Freddy says he started to kill the children because his daughter was taken away from him by the town. The reason implied that his daughter was taken away was because he killed his wife. He killed his wife because his wife was peeking inside the shed only to figure out what he was doing in his spare time. So he was killing children BEFORE his daughter was taken away from him? Then the movie goes into this nature-nurture circle that I won't even get into) etc. I remember saving up money as a 9 year old back in 99 when they where all released in a boxed set in order to purchase them all. Reading as much as possible (before I knew the internet) on the series, upcoming sequels (I still own a horror movie guidebook that hinted at a Freddy Vs. Jason flick aimed for 2001 release), and the boxes themselves (I used to take them into the shitter just to re-read the plot synopsis). Shortly after completing the collection however my father took a hammer to the entire VHS set convinced that it was the reason for my evil childhood acting up (it couldn't have been because I was fucking 9), soon after anything "violent" became taboo. Didn't stop me from collecting up money and purchasing the entire set on DVD a 2nd time though. Granted I was 13 when I did get it and my violent outbursts went into "silent" form (where only my mother knew about any of it). Shit I'm attached to the series like meth addicts high on meth. O well, I can do nothing but sit back and enjoy the series now from a completely odd perspective. Maybe I'll chill back this weekend and just watch the entire thing again. To boot, now that I know internet, I'll even "buy" the M.T.V series and chow down on those Tales of the Crypt rips.
  6. I tried looking for your channel Hera but no luck, mind editing the first post with a link ?
  7. I was expecting a joke, then the guest stars appeared and I did nothing but stare at my screen for the remainder of the video stupefied by the mere idea. The first few minutes was ok though.
  8. Quake Live is just Quake 3 running on flash. Sounds really neato and the game runs smooth. Unless your INTO Quake though, it's just a 5 minute experiment.
  9. I'm 30 minutes into "The Kite Runner". If you've never read the novel, go do it now. If you've never seen this movie, keep it that way. So many things wrong off the bat, 1 major character that I have yet to see isn't in there as well, the entire reason to the purpose of the "adventure" isn't really expressed and only known IF you already read the novel. The pacing is horrible, and the acting is even worse. They sound like robots repeating their lines and then 2 seconds later the camera spans to another scene. The Kite Cutting was "ok" though, seriously could've have been better with more verbal communication and less visual expression. O well, it's still "sad", just not as impact full as the book was. It could've been so much more though, and that makes it even worse. Lost potential is shit.
  10. Everything! In actuality I just want my voice to sound nasty delicious, and be able to adjust to any form of music. I stopped practicing though, and it hurts again when I hear a tune I know the lyrics too . Too much in my head atm.
  11. The chapter this week, has stupid written all over it :/.
  12. When this movie was good, illegal substances where still legal. Hence it's current day suckage!
  13. I've been considering the proposition of talents a lot lately. Trying to figure out if we all are truly born with "talents" the TV tells us we have when we're children. If these abilities are innate or just the hard work of someone who is used to doing hard work. If you attempt to study for the first time in your life, you'll understand at the rate of a tortoise, but if your studying a completely new subject while going through the process for the 100th time, you'll grasp it at a higher rate (giving off the illusion that your a natural). So lets assume that it is innate, and that the A student in class was born with a talent. Then consider that we are all born with talents. Which talent is the best one to dig through life with? Are there "master" talents (IE: Copying other talents), sort of a psychological evolution of mind-X-Men. The kid in the corner having the ears of Beethoven, the one in the front has a mind quicker then speedy Gonzalez, the one in the middle tired but photographic in memory, the loner nothing but imaginative exploding imagery when given a pen to write or draw. This is what I was grown up with, this is what we are taught in children now in days (at least during the late 90's). That somehow everyone in society has their own "ability" that no one else has. Fuck Immortal lost my train of thought.
  14. 9 It's an adventure flick, with plenty of message and action to eat up. Anybody looking to remember their childhoods or delve into the new generation child flicks should give it a look. I don't really have much complaints, it could have been better (and the pacing felt odd plenty of times), but overall the movie stands on its own two feet. I hate that the two forms of "reality" that it mixes, but at the same time enjoy it because it shows the idea of combining two different reasons for life. It was enjoyable, but I do regret the $10 that went towards watching it, I would gladly have been patient for a download had I not been fooled by the trailer (I expected a more artsy approach).
  15. Auto-tuners! One of the best and worst inventions in music history. Having heard Wayne/T-Pain/Timbaland all have shit voices when off the computerencial influence. It isn't even one of those "his voice sounds bad when he speaks because he's conserving it for he entertains" kind of voices, it's a straight up "I'm rough" voice that's thrown out there. Knowing that these people can't really vocalize well within music, I can only imagine the amount of frustration this adds to true vocalists. People who train day-in day-out to perfect the sound of their instrument and only make mild progression into success when these dudes walk in with nothing but a box making millions. Saying all of this, I still can't stop enjoying their music, while credit isn't due in their instrument skills, they do have good ears for whats "hip" and deserving of a radio station. Some of these dudes, don't even really need the box to fill in for their artistic downfalls, that is if the UnitedSheeps had children taught literature to a point beyond 5 paragraph essays. Drake/Kanye/LilWayne/Eminem - Forever You know that our education system sucks when a self-taught nigga that doesn't know the difference between To0 and To rhymes better than school poet contestants. These artists are forced to ignore the idea of "sending out a message" (something I believe Em grew up with), and are instead forced to give children something that sounds mega produced and unoriginal. I heard different words but the mood has been the same for the past 20 something records I've heard. O, and the best part about the auto-tuner is how clonetastik everybody sounds now. Someone listening to this song for the first time in their lives would consider Drake, Kanye, and Wayne the same person easily. Black Eyed Peas - I gotta Feeling Now that I've let out my thoughts on that, I'll just go ahead and say whats up with me. I haven't missed a class of school yet (I'm proud of this, I usually skip by now). While I haven't studied much the main subject I'm scared to shits to fail (Anatomy, I want to ask Gryph for help eventually but at this moment it just feels like I'll be asking him to do the work for me instead of actually helping me), my diet plans are still changing till I settle on something chill that I can handle, and my gaming habbit is getting closer and closer (I uninstalled Guild Wars, now I need to completely stop playing shit all together) to being diminished. Don't really got much else to say, what can I say, I'm trying to just live right now .
