  2. Due to a major bug in MAMEUI and MESSUI with ini files getting corrupted, a fixed version has been released on the website. It is current git as at the time of me writing this. Alternatively, if you compiled the official release yourself and your compile environment is still intact, just copy over src/osd/winui/directories.cpp from github and compile.
  3. I know that none of the mame devs had the problem you're having. Try getting 5.3.0, from the MAMEdev site http://mamedev.org/tools/ It's all I can suggest.
  4. I don't know what that error is about. Are you using GCC 7.0 ? If so, try 7.1 or whatever the latest is. Or, use 5.3.0 like I do.

  6. MESSUI 0.188 and MAMEUI 0.188 have been released and are available at the usual place: http://messui.1emulation.com/ There's no release of HBMAME. Changes: - Big rewrite due to new code that was added to the core. Big thanks to Mamesick for clues on how to handle this. - History display was completely rewritten. This adds gameinit.dat and marp.dat, and fixes the missing source info. - Note that the text format in dat files is interpreted slightly differently - the text is displayed as is. No need for extra blank lines and so on. - Media View: Mount Item, and Unmount only show when needed. - The full name of a software-list item is passed around, eliminating the possiblity of loading an identically-named item from another list. - Many, many other small changes, too many to list individually Note: - The new code we referred to last time has been added. The main problem with it is that if you have unacceptable ini files in your system, it will crash MESSUI/MAMEUI as soon as you click on a game. You will need to clean away any ini/cfg files for the game that caused the crash. Even after that, there's a handfull of games that just crash anyway. There's plans to arrange some sort of workaround in the future, but it's a lot of work.

  8. Been working on fixing the history display and associated info. Lots of changes have been done. You now get the basic machine info even without having any dat files. There's new support for gameinit.dat and marp.dat. Also, history for software-list items has been added. And lastly, the long-time bug of the first few letters sometimes missing from the display is fixed. Heaps of other tidy-up work and reducing the incidence of crashes has been done too.

  12. MESSUI 0.187 and MAMEUI 0.187 have been released and are available at the usual place: http://messui.1emulation.com/ There's no release of HBMAME. Changes: - NEWUI: Fixed memory corruption in the new software-list loading. - NEWUI: Create and Load File: SWPATH now takes priority (fixed this time). - NEWUI: Added Slots menu - Media View: Fixed problem of garbage showing when unloading software - Media View: Can load multiple slots before starting emulation (including software-list items) - WinUI: Fixed various memory corruptions, buffer overflows and null references. - WinUI: Stopped internal media slots from showing (fixes Neogeo crash) Notes: - The big change that breaks WinUI has been added to the 0.188 cycle, so this is it for a while.
  13. Good that you found something. It definitely looks like you had a malware attack. For extra protection I would block the site that shows that screen in hosts file.
  14. No I haven't. Are you sure you don't have malware in your computer? If I were you I'd have the computer examined thoroughly.
  15. Just checked again, still crashed. This turned out to be because neogeo contains an internal cartridge slot not available to the user. However both mameui and newui were exposing this slot, and mameui didn't like it at all, so it crashed. This has now been fixed.

  21. MESSUI 0.186 and MAMEUI 0.186 have been released and is available at the usual place: http://messui.1emulation.com/ There's no release of HBMAME. If you're interested in computers and consoles, the following changes and notes may be of interest. Changes: - NEWUI: new Load Item menu: You can now load software-list items - NEWUI: Create and Load File: SWPATH now takes priority - Media View: Unmount now actually unmounts the software - Media View: Fixed problem of garbage showing when it should be blank - Media View: Fixed display of already-loaded software - Media View: Refresh on exit of emulation - Media View: Can load multiple slots before starting emulation (including software-list items) - SW Files: Fixed regression of unable to load software - SW Files: Can load multiple slots before starting emulation (single-click each item one at a time) Notes: - During the 0.184-0.185 cycle, a number of changes were done to command-line and software handling. With them came numerous bugs. During the 0.185-0.186 cycle, many of the bugs were squashed but many more remain. These can cause issues such as crash at start of various machines. When a crash of this nature occurs, it takes out the frontend as well. - A big change was made a few weeks back which killed off all the winui builds. Luckily the change was reverted which is why we can make a release today. However, version 2 of the change will be trialled in a week or so, and if accepted winui will die once more. If this happens, it will take at least a few months to repair the damage. And, that's even if I feel like doing something. You have been warned! Also, I'm going on a holiday for 2 weeks so I won't be able to answer any questions for a while.
  22. I'm sad because I'm the only oldie left.
