Two more emulators! callus, 0.42, 1998, no instructions, unable to run any games. looks like it requires files and folders rather than zipfiles. Any ideas? calice, 0.4.6, 2001, no instructions, unable to run any games. There is a folder full of .drv files, which look something like loader .dat files. I'm not sure if its just something to read, or it controls the games. It lists crc codes in there, so perhaps it uses zip files. If the .drv files control the emu, it becomes quite flexible - as long as you know what to do. What comments or help can you give?

FBA doesn't work on win95... so that's the end of that !! onto the next emu........
-
Is FBA just a newer FB, or a derivative? What is the current version of FBA?

I've set up yet another emulator, this one is Final Burn v0.518. The simplest and easiest mame-type emu yet! Graphics run very fast, sound usually ok but occasional echo on some games. Can export the rom-list to clrmamepro or romcenter standard. No auditing facility. No indication of what works until you try it. Although the instructions say that the roms folder must be directly below the exe, you can change this in the cfg\finalburn.ini This let me use my mame roms as input. Does anyone have any words of advice concerning Final Burn? What is the difference (if any) between Final Burn and Final Burn Alpha?

Some basic questions concerning Kawaks
Robert replied to Last Exile's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
I have kof2003 running on kawaks 1.48b dev (if it helps) Here is the info 262144 c521b5bc 271-bios.bin 16777216 c29acd28 271-c1d.bin 16777216 328e80b1 271-c2d.bin 16777216 020a11f1 271-c3d.bin 16777216 991b5ed2 271-c4d.bin 16777216 c2de8b66 271-c5d.bin 16777216 3ff750db 271-c6d.bin 524288 0e86af8f 271-m1d.bin 4194304 b9da070c 271-p1.bin 4194304 da3118c4 271-p2.bin 1048576 5cefd0d2 271-p3.bin 1048576 59d376da 271-p3d.bin 16777216 2058ec5e 271-v1d.bin -
Got the romcenter stuff sorted out. A very simple format. Now I can say that 2.23c has 405 games, while 2.24 has 433 games. One strange thing - I selected Puzzle Bobble, but a clone called Bust-a-move ran instead.
-
better if you fixed the link. although it shows on the screen properly, it's actually got http in it twice.
-
I'm getting a problem with 2.23 in that the area above the game screen goes blank. Like where it has the buttons for minimise, X, etc - and the line below, where the menu is. Anyone have a solution? - i'm running win95 - old DLL ?
-
I've found and dl'd nebula 2.23c, and the nebula 2.24 loader. It seems that the neogeo romsets in 2.23 are not the standard mame ones. Now, I will write the interface between the romcenter dat file and my rom manager. (Allows my system to create romsets specifically for nebula).
-
Romcenter is like clrmamepro. I may download one or the other if there's no other way to get the info I need.
-
I just noticed that Hazuki runs and is playable. Graphics problems again, but not too bad. The 2 little fighters chasing each other looks ridiculous.
-
Can I play these extra games without the loader? If not, should I start using google to find one?
-
I made the changes, it is a little faster. With the neogeo.dat, do I just add the extra info, and the game appears in the list? Or is a loader another executable?
-
neogeo.dat.... something i'll have too learn about... what format to use and so on. my computer (don't laugh) is a 333mhz with 192megs of ram, 2x 40 gig HD running win95. I'll try the other suggestions in the morning, it 2:30 am and i'm going to bed now.

The only reason the Philipines would be doing is if the US govt was pushing them to do it. The only reason the US govt exists is to give more power to American companies. And that's because US politicians are being paid and/or hired by those same companies. So in the end it comes to personal greed. disclaimer: the above is my considered opinion only

After using it (mame32k 0.64) for a while yesterday, I agree it is crappy. Play a game, it works. Select the next game and the whole emu just vanishes. I've got version 0.90 now, so I'll give it a shot.
-
I just set up Nebula 2.24, and I would like any tips / tricks that would be useful. It looks a lot like kawaks, but with less options. I don't know how many games it supports, it doesn't say. I counted the non-workers which came to 12. With Garou, the 5 key did nothing so I couldn't play it. Other games were playable though. It is quite a lot slower than Kawaks. How can I make it go faster? The only romlist export is for romcenter, so some programming is needed for my rom manager. As I said, ANY information will be gratefully accepted.

Some basic questions concerning Kawaks
Robert replied to Last Exile's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
They do exist.... I can verify that. This board has a very strict policy of mentioning rom sites, or even places that link to them (which means google is out). So keep looking; I assure you the files are out there. -
I've downloaded a number of games and other demo-things, the normal responses are: freeze at start; crash or hang the emu at start; freeze just after start; or blank screen. A few have progressed beyond that: GBA Chinese Chess (gbacc): responds to key presses, graphics are crap. Yahtzee: produces an error screen about interrupt not set to a function ThingPong: a nice screen with flowers and a yellow duck; pressing enter causes "an error has occured" Copper.zip: It works, has a yellow curly worm thing, with a graphics trick thing behind it.
-
Another way to run something in windows is to drag the "file to run" on top of the exe file. This produces the same log error. HAH! I actually got to play a game !!! It's called Mortal Konsole which looks like Pong. The graphics for the paddles and ball are corrupt, but IT DID RUN. I got to beat the computer 10 to 1. Am I the first person to ever win a game on this emu?
-
It ran exactly as in your screenshot. I found a few bugs of a more basic nature. 1. If I open something, it works fine. Then close it, and open something else. The open file dialog keeps reappearing, have to hold down esc for a few secs to get rid of it. 2. I set up a file association, so that by double-clicking on a GBA file will open the emu and run the file. When I double-click, an error message occurs, and it says to look in the log file. After that, you cannot do anything with the emu except close it. Here is the log file: [20050127.12:14:38] [20050127.12:14:38] Opening log file: C:\Download\nds\dsemu-0.0.1d\log.txt [20050127.12:14:38] LOG: Starting session. Some basic questions concerning Kawaks
Robert replied to Last Exile's topic in Arcade Emulators [/pc/arcade]
To answer each question as best I can: 1. Usually the same as mame but not always 2. I wouldn't presume anything. I can tell you what roms are needed, but as to whether they are encrypted or not, I couldn't say. 3. don't know 4. Loaders are unofficial, they are usually different from an official release. 5. Yes 6. No The rom requirements for kawaks are very similar to mame. All that matters is that each zipfile has the correct name, and that each rom is the correct size and crc. The filename of an individual rom is irrelevant. Kawaks, like mame, has parent and child relationships. The changes per version are not as profound as with mame. For example, the other day I downloaded the complete set for kawaks 1.53 ; when checked against 1.52 there was one game changed (matrim). Against 1.50 there was 4 games missing. Against the unofficial 1.48dev, there are dozens of differences. Kawaks is good on older computers; on my 333 all kawaks games run at what appears to be full speed (no fps display available). On mame, most neogeo games run at 4 fps, which is noticeably slow. I think Kawaks is a good emulator, it all depends if you consider the rom requirements too difficult. -
I think you let the cat out of the bag GC....
