From 0.166, MESSUI and MAMEUI dat files will work this way: The menu options to find mameinfo.dat and history.dat have been removed. A new directory option (DAT files) has been added. MESSUI and MAMEUI will be able to display the contents of up to 6 specific DAT files. These are: - history.dat - mameinfo.dat - messinfo.dat - sysinfo.dat - command.dat - story.dat * Create a folder to hold these files (the default foldername is dats). * Use the Directory option for DAT files to select this folder. * Quit MESSUI / MAMEUI, so that your choice is saved. * Download the 6 files: - history.dat - http://www.arcade-history.com/?page=download - mameinfo.dat - http://mameinfo.mameworld.info/ - messinfo.dat - http://www.progettosnaps.net/messinfo/ - sysinfo.dat - http://www.progettoemma.net/mess/extra.html - command.dat - (see below) - story.dat - http://www.arcadehits.net/mamescore/home.php?show=files Notes: - mameinfo.dat contains some European characters. These do not display correctly. If this bothers you, you need to open the file in Notepad, and Save As UTF-8. Then it will work fine. However, if the file contained any Japanese characters (we don't know of any), they will get corrupted. You'll have to decide what you prefer. - messinfo.dat comes in 2 versions, UTF-8 and 1252. Both display normally, but again, European characters are corrupt. If you wish to fix this, you must open the 1252 version in Notepad, and Save As UTF-8. Then it will work fine. However, if the file contained any Japanese characters (we don't know of any), they will get corrupted. You'll have to decide what you prefer. - command.dat as available from various places will not display properly. This is because of the illogical use of block delimiters in the file. A fixed version is included with the latest version of MAMEUIFX. Alternatively, since the file doesn't change too often, a copy is attached below. * Put the files into your 'dats' folder, start up the emulator, and it should all work perfectly! command.zip

You can set up MAME so that it asks for confirmation when you press Escape. This stops you quitting by accident. However that feature did not exist back in 0.84 time. If you like the idea of a confirmation dialog, you are free to add the code to 0.84 and compile it. But no mamedev is going to spend time on such an old version.

Now I know what you want, you want to hold down a button for a few seconds before it activates. That feature is not, and never has been, part of MAME. So, to answer your question, no it isn't possible. I wouldn't have any idea how to make it happen.

Messinfo should show. However that section needs an overhaul. What needs to be done: - set up a directory to hold history.dat, mameinfo.dat, messinfo.dat, sysinfo.dat - get the history tab to look for and display content from all 4 files. However it means that no other files would be considered. Not sure when it will get done, but at least its on the list of things to do. (MESSUI and MAMEUI). Also make sure Asian characters show properly (already fixed in MAMEUIFX). EDIT: had a look, messinfo.dat is in an unrecognised format, and is utterly useless (just a dump of the source code). mameinfo.dat should work but doesn't. I suspect it never worked. This is a bug. Thanks for reporting this. It will be fixed - sometime.

I don't think the author of mameox visits this forum any more. Also, what is "long press function"?

It's been noticed that some people don't receive emails from the forum, for registration, password change, and PM notification. The server manager is looking into the issue. In the meantime, we will manually approve new accounts that look legitimate. This can take up to 2 days, but will normally be done within 8 hours. You'll need to log in every so often until you find it now works. Alternatively, leave a message on the facebook page, or contact me on another forum. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Works now, thanks! Just in case you want this announcement to be visible on the front page, in facebook, etc, make a short news item in the Submit us news forum, and I'll move it to where everyone can see it.

A lot of modifications and improvements have gone into making this emulator run on the Sony PSP. Get the details and download link over HERE.
-
Do you have an ini file for each system, or just one (ini\mame.ini) ? When you say it 'disappears', what do you mean? What were you doing exactly when that happened? You could also try in MAMEUI, running the exact same things and see what it does.

ewww, well good luck, perhaps it will finish one day...
