America ... A land where guns outnumber people... a land which has more homicides than the rest of the world put together... and yet, the more deaths, the more people go out and buy more guns. What is the purpose of a gun? It only has one purpose - to kill. These little killers congregate in homes and businesses all over that cursed country. Although it is possible for a gun to fire by itself, mostly they are used by nutjobs, druggies, criminals, police and the army to kill others. For some reason America seems to have a much larger proportion of these murderers than most other places. In Australia, most people have never actually seen a gun with their own eyes. Even fewer have touched one. While I have seen one in a policeman's holster, I've never handled one. I shudder just to think of it. Last year we had 30 deaths from guns. The last mass shooting was in 1996. In America, the last mass shooting was just the other day, and last year almost 10,000 were shot dead, and about 100,000 injured. The driver behind all this is an evil organisation known as the NRA. It wields enough political clout to forestall any limitations. The only way to fix this is for someone to take them down. Perhaps the FBI could stop chasing harmless file sharing sites, and instead use their technology to accomplish something far more meaningful - making the country safe from its own guns. I've heard many stories of Americans having gun collections, of houses full of guns ready to shoot at a moment's notice. I cannot even conceive this concept, it is just so wrong, to defy all common sense. And yet huge numbers of families continue doing it. To me, it is inexplicable. And, so, President Obama has committed himself do doing something. I bet nothing will happen, after all, he's not running for any more elections. But on the other hand, he has nothing to lose. Has he got the guts? Lastly, do we have any gun owners here? Why do you have them? Does it make you feel safer, knowing you can murder someone at the pull of a trigger?
