semi-transparent is as good as can be expected from NEO-GEO hardware. for example, if you take the decrypted text layer (512KB) from either svcchaos or kof2003 and split it into 128KB segments you will notice that the lifebars in kof2003 and timer block in svcchaos are solid in some segments and opaque in others. the semi-transparent effect is accomplished by cycling through these segments rapidly turning the relevant pixels on and off. amazed PLAYMORE opted to develop these titles for soon to be archaic hardware. to make a long story short they're as intended.

as i understand it flash0 contains the PSP's firmware - as of now there is no known meathod to restore ver. 1.00.

@gsergio - my dats were written for use in Nebula. parent and altrenate sets are included for reference as Nebula at present does not include code (to the best of my knowledge) to decrypt Z80 or Sample roms with the exception of byte-swapped Sample roms i.e. mslug4. the sets appended with "(decrypted), (PCB, decrypted), (MVS, decrypted), or (AES - recalled, decrypted) have all been tested to work with said emulator

updated dats and reposted in "Pinned: List of all the Dat Files" thread. as previously mentioned this emulator does not handle z80 decryption, nor will it decrypt samples (exception being bit swap for mslug4 samples). only sets appended with (decrypted) are working... the remaining portions of the dat are included for reference and to define a parent or set.
