I recently read that LCD monitors use about 10%-20% much power per square inch of CRT monitors. So is it a good idea to enable power saving mode if I have an LCD? I mean, is it necessary?

I'm looking for this one site I knew of a long time ago. I dunno where the link came from, maybe from here? It was a site that had these flash movies of various NES games that made fun of them. Some of the ones I can remember are one of Mario and Luigi getting high off shrooms, sesame street characters spelling out "we'll kill you," a duckhunt one, an excitebike one, and a castlevania one. There was also this one of these old NES characters (don't know what they were) getting eaten as cereal while Chrono Trigger music played in the background. Anyone know what the hell I'm talking about?

Ah, my apologies. Well I'm and idiot and didn't try reinstalling the drivers before anything else so I did so and now its working. Bah, sorry about this post. Flame if you wish.

I've been experiencing this problem on my computer but didn't notice it until today. Random parts in random games black out for no reason it seems. I ran DXdiag and the direct3d tests all failed. This was because the screen was just completely black. One of the directdraw tests (fullscreen test) failed because of the same symptoms. The weird thing is before the test ends for a split second sometimes I can see what the test was trying to show me (spinning DX logo) I am running with an ATI Radeon x700 with the latest drivers and catalyst 5.13

I'm just using the original ATI drivers from the CD without hte CCC installed. It doesn't seem to really affect what I'm doing anyways.

Well I have the latest framework version and I am the admin of my computer, I don't really understand the problem. I might just remove the Catalyst Control Center unless I can figure it out. Is the CCC just a program for more options in controlling your card or does it actually do anything else?

The Catalyst Control Center for my Radeon X700 is giving me problems. I first bought the card and installed the CCC from the cd and it worked fine until about yesterday when it just stopped working. So, I downloaded version 5.12. I uninstalled the old one, reinstalled the new one. The problem is at startup, the new one gives an error: "you do not have permission to change Catalyst Control Center settings..." I've uninstalled (properly) and reinstalled the old driver from the CD, no good. And I've uninstalled the whole entire ATI driver and reinstalled, still no good. A weird thing is, after about 2 minutes after startup, I have no trouble accessing the CCC and it works fine, its just for those previous 2 minutes, it claims I don't have permission. Anyone have this problem or know how to fix it? On another note, what exactly does CCC do? If its not necessarily that important, I could just use the original ATI Radeon driver control center. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Ah it was Dungeon Keeper but I figured it out. It was as simpler as just downloading a trial version of some extractor (of which now i can't remember the name) and using that. It didn't exactly create wav files but I was still able to play them.

I need a utility that can extract wav files from a.dat file i have called sound.dat The only thing I could find was xsfx.exe but its not working properly and will not do the job. Anyone know anything that may help me?

I'm gonna dl and give media player classic a shot, thanks for the feedback.

Hey I dunno whats wrong with my Windows Media Player but everytime I try to load a WMP video from online sources (if the player is playing out of a site on IE or something) it never works. It just says closed or something. I don't think its a codec problem because it would dl it but I'm not sure... any suggestions?

I'm looking for one of those multitap type adapters where you plug the red yellow white into the back of it and flip the switch of the system you want to use. Its got like 4 total plug in things or something. I dunno if thats a good description but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, please tell me what its called. I'm betting _____ adapter.

RE and Neverwinter Nights. Even though nwn's storyline isn't that unique and follows the basic medieval type storyline sorta, it was still really good. Its too hard to rate a storyline with all those RPGs out because some of them have really good storylines like FF7 and some don't. Oh well.
