  1. If you can just manage to save up like 700-900 dollars you can build yourself a pretty much top of the line gaming rig (you wont have rediculous stuff like a TB of HDD space but it will be able to run anything maxed out) But if your tight on money those arent bad choices.
  2. yeah but im pretty sure the drug name is spelled "Extasy" to tell you the truth i was high when i made this poll. But yeah i noticed i flockin pwn at Guitar Hero when im high, i never really paid attention to it in other games though. I used to do ex but it became a problem and ill never touch it again, I really miss those raves though
  3. yeah i just played the demo and it seemed like a cheap version of oblivion to me :/ the hunt for a new PC RPG continues! (what about that Diablo type game Titan Quest or whatever its called, is that any good?)
  4. if you in the view comments view and not on your profile it makes all HTML code null in the comments so if it doesnt work there its myspaces fault and not someone screwing with you
  5. so do i enter my credit card into steam somewhere after i click purchase?
  6. Im thinking of buying Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and the new Garry's Mod over steam, First off, are either of these worth it? (Garry's mod ill probably get, i used to play it alot when it was free, and its only 10 bucks anyway) But is Dark Messiah good? Im downloading the demo but ive never played it. Also is buying games over steam easy? ive never done it before i just got it in the store and entered the code, but steam tends to be a pain in the ass which i dont feel like dealing with when it comes to my money.
  7. so i have a bunch of PCI slots free (3), and two 3.5 inch bays im looking to fill them with things that might be slightly functional, but mostly just cool looking/stuff not very many people have. For instance to fill up my 3 extra 5.25 bays i have a cigarette lighter (like in a car)/cupholder thing, a light up thinger, and some dB meters. http://www.xpcgear.com/8portblack.html That thing would be cool to fill up a PCI and a 3.5 bay, and im thinking maybe a fan controller in the other 3.5 bay. But anyone have any other ideas? I thought about getting a media card reader but im almost positive i would never use it.
  8. i think if he had the time he could make a pretty good book/ongoing comic series
  9. myspace runs on horrible windows servers that crash all the time, i dont think ive EVER seen myspace running the way its supposed to. your best bet is to try again later (There was an exploit to make undeletable comments, but it worked by removing the delete button and not like this, and i think they fixed it by now)
  10. yeah that was definitely a highlight
  11. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysintern...PageDefrag.mspx 2. Optimize the Paging File "In modern operating systems, including Windows, application programs and many system processes always reference memory using virtual memory addresses which are automatically translated to real (RAM) addresses by the hardware. Only core parts of the operating system kernel bypass this address translation and use real memory addresses directly. Virtual Memory is always in use, even when the memory required by all running processes does not exceed the amount of RAM installed on the system. All processes (e.g. application executables) running under 32 bit Windows gets virtual memory addresses (a Virtual Address Space) going from 0 to 4,294,967,295 (2*32-1 = 4 GB), no matter how much RAM is actually installed on the computer. In the default Windows OS configuration, 2 GB of this virtual address space are designated for each process' private use and the other 2 GB are shared between all processes and the operating system. Normally, applications (e.g. Notepad, Word, Excel, Acrobat Reader) use only a small fraction of the 2GB of private address space. The operating system only assigns RAM page frames to virtual memory pages that are in use. RAM is a limited resource, whereas virtual memory is, for most practical purposes, unlimited. There can be a large number of processes each with its own 2 GB of private virtual address space. When the memory in use by all the existing processes exceeds the amount of RAM available, the operating system will move pages (4 KB pieces) of one or more virtual address spaces to the computer's hard disk, thus freeing that RAM frame for other uses. In Windows systems, these "paged out" pages are stored in one or more files called pagefile.sys in the root of a partition." - Source Default - Windows XP by default uses a system managed paging file that works well for the majority of users and will automatically set the paging file to the following size based on how much RAM is in your system: - Initial size (MB): 1.5 x the amount of RAM in your system - Maximum size (MB): 3.0 x the amount of RAM in your system (PF Size Limit = 4095 MB) Gaming - If you frequently use memory intensive applications (such as High End Games) it is possible that the paging file will resize during application use, this can affect performance. A properly configured paging file will not resize (increase) so long as the Initial size is set large enough. Allowing the paging file to resize is recommended for unforeseen memory intensive situations and will prevent "Out of Memory" error messages from occurring. Any resizing will reset to the default Initial size upon reboot and will not cause any permanent fragmentation of the paging file. Setting the Initial size too large has no negative impact on system performance except to waste disk space if it is not used. Since disk space is usually plentiful it is safer then setting it too small. All arguments about setting the paging file smaller are to conserve disk space and have nothing to do with performance. It is recommended to increase the Initial size by increments of .5 x until the resizing stops. Instructions - Go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "System", "Advanced" tab, in the "Performance" section select "Settings", "Advanced" tab, in the "Virtual Memory" section select "Change". Change the values to: - Initial size (MB): 2.0 x the amount of RAM in your system - Maximum size (MB): 4095 MB Then select "Set" and "OK" and reboot. A permanent solution is to add more RAM to your system. It is a good idea to have at least 1 GB to 2 GB of RAM in a PC today. A simple test to determine if you need more RAM is to use you PC for a whole day without rebooting, then look at the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Delete), Performance tab. If the "Commit Charge - Peak" is ever higher then the "Physical Memory - Total" your system could benefit from adding more RAM. When you change the amount of RAM in your system, you have to adjust the paging file size if you adjusted it manually. If you left it at System managed, Windows XP will adjust this for you. Optimization - "Moving the paging file to a separate physical Harddrive (not partition) from the boot partition will increase paging file performance. However, if you remove the paging file from the boot partition, Windows cannot create a dump file (Memory.dmp) in which to write debugging information in the event that a kernel mode Stop Error message occurs. The optimal solution is to create one paging file that is stored on the boot partition, and then create a second paging file on a separate physical Harddrive (not partition) Windows will use the paging file on the less frequently used partition over the paging file on the heavily used boot partition. Windows uses an internal algorithm to determine which paging file to use for virtual memory management." - Source Advanced - The ultimate solution is to have a dedicated high speed Harddrive with a defragmented paging file set to 4095 MB for both the Initial size and Maximum size. 12. i took that optimizer app for a spin just for the fun of it though and i do like some of its other options (its pretty nice for managing windows themes/boot screens/logins and stuff)
  13. yeah i wish he would keep this series up
  14. www.blastwavecomic.com i just found that today, its a pretty good comic, so i thought i would share. theres only like 30 something so far so if you have some time read them all.
  15. well what i said would probably work. I mean if banks and stuff are using it, its probably a pretty rock solid way to avoid trouble. Banks don't mess around.
  16. for me the problem is that so much of my life relies on the internet, when the internet goes down its a disaster. All my entertainment comes from/uses the internet, i have VoIP phone service, etc etc. But now its like i have such an efficient setup for delivering to me all the latest news, movies, music, games, etc. That its almost completley automatic. and i can sit down at the computer and read everything in like a half hour. and then its like...uhh...now what? sometimes i feel like i spend more time getting the games/music/movies and stuff than actually watching/playing
  17. IJTF is right after taking a Cisco and a Nortel networking class(es) you realize this even more. Although i have to admit the most common cause of this would be the end users computer filled with crap. Bloatware/adware/spyware/viruses/poorly maintained/etc. but alot of times theres just nothing you can do
  18. i think it would be smart to do like alot of corporate websites do and banking websites. Whenever they link to an external site a page pops up that states they are in no way affiliated and not responsible for what is on their pages and then there is a continue button.
  19. FORUM RAID!!!! lol, internet war (but seriously...don't)
  20. be careful with that link, im not totally positive on if thats breaking any rules (The mod-chip BIOSes is more what im worried about, that and it looks like one of those media players was commercially developed) so i'll let another mod take care of it
  21. yeah, and the images arent hosted on 1emu servers so technically its the same thing as linking to a site :/ i dunno i guess its just the better safe than sorry approach.
  22. I just had a problem with random shutdowns (read my rant in the spam forum about my stupid cpu fan sucking) and basically it was overheating. Make sure its not that before you buy anything.
  23. They actually have cell phone booster things but they are like 300 bucks O_o
  24. Im 99% sure you can get the D-Pad to work, i dont really know too much about MUGEN so i can't really tell you how, Unless you want to search for one of those programs that assigns buttons on your gamepad to keyboard keys, and that would make it work (Its usually called a profiler) The D-Pad for 360 controllers kinda blows though :/
  25. Looks like a pretty fun game, i love side scrolling beat-em-ups. Ill give it a shot
