  1. Technically you don't HAVE to. But most creators do. I am just trying to get you in the habit early on. It will help you reduce your sff size by using certain sprites over again. Like if K used one of these frames for a different move you would have it ripped twice, once with and once without the fire. Also if you ever decided to make the fire have any special effects such as transparities or something you would have to rerip them. Many other good reasons not to link your effects to your characters.
  2. 2001.04.14 is best, unless you can run the Linux version. Then you would want it. Yup. Also be sure to read all his files and the other docs. I printed them all out myself. As for the animation. You did good with ripping the frames. But there is still 3 flaws. 1. I see something appear in the right hand side of the pic. 2. The shadow is still there, mugen gives characters a shadow itself. (technically the stages do) 3.His fire effect should be a seperate animation. All effects are ripped seperately. You are going the right track though, I look forward to seeing more progress.
  3. No problem. Have you seen some of my edits in the sprite contest? http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php...?showtopic=3094 BTW what kind of music are you trying to rip?
  4. Here's a few. http://primeop.tripod.com/mugenboss/main.html http://www.indie-rpg.net/pixel-zone/shtml/...tutorials.shtml http://pixeltutorial.cjb.net/ http://www.spritedomain.net/fighter1.htm
  5. Just snap the center, left, and right of each layer. In PSP you can put each piece together to make 1 image. So just put the different layers in the sff alond with any animations the stages may have. So to answer your question... yes.
  6. For ripping stages you could just walk back and forth and rip them by layer (if they have layers. To get the tops of the stages riped you have 2 choices. The toughest is get a character that jumps really high and snap the tops like that. This method generally sux. The best way to do it is to rip stages with Nebula. With Nebula you can move the screen up or down in capcom games and SNK games. I think that is what the wheel is for I never used Pal editor.
  7. I thought we already added each other on MSN My email for it is thedreamslayer@hotmail.com When you get sober perhaps you could edit that post into understandable english
  8. It's not terrible. Download as many characters as you like. Most creators start off creating by editing other people's work. Just use it to learn at home then you can create a character yourself and release it. Or you can even ask other creators for permission to use sprites, coding, etc. And yes you can put an animation into a character easily. But you'll have to read a bit on what all makes it do what. You have to tell Mugen every little thing you want it to do.
  9. Yes you are doing it right. As you go through different animations the other sprites will sometimes pop up. Simply uncheck those boxes again to make them disappear.
  10. You'll just have to uncheck the box in shots factory. Usually if you turn off every box except the very last one you will be left with only the debug object.
  11. What exactly do you mean Alexis? Like the sparks or fire effects or something? If you toggle through the debug you will find them all in a seperate area. They are not with the character sprites in most instances.
  12. Morrigan's stance. New entry.
  13. No No No Don't make it 1 big pcx file. That was just a mistake I did when I 1st started. I only uploaded it to show you that you have to rip all the sprites. Keep them all seperate because you have to put them into the.sff file 1 by 1. I apologize if I threw you off. might need to redo them then unless you can seperate the blacks on K from the one in the background. Open Kung Fu man up in MEE and you will see how the sprites are set up. Yes they do go in a certain order but only in the sff and air files.
  14. Edit by Disoblige: Ehh no name calling. why don't you just look at the 1000 other favorite fighter type topics to see On Topic Shiki To mods I know him so it is not flame
  15. No it's not supposed to be 1 big pcx file. That was one of my n00b mistakes Yes. A tick is how long a frame of animation lasts per second.Mugen and arcades usually run at 60 frames/ticks per second. When you are ripping sprites you need to count how long it takes you to get to the next fram as you frame advance. Each time you frame advance is 1 tick. If not then when you start programming you'll have to come back and get them anyway which will mean you basically have to do everything all over again. I have a question about those rips, does K have the color black on him. If he is then you need to make his background color pink or something else different. The reason for the pink background is because no character ever has that color in there sprites. The background color is the color that will be invisible in mugen.
  16. Well the converting part isn't explained in the docs it just tells you you need sprites in.pcx format. It's up to you to get.pcx sprites and then everything is explained in the docs. Yep. Well you don't HAVE to take screenshots of them all. You could make them instead Seriously yes you have to take screenshots of everything you want to be in your character. The ripping process is the longest part of creation in mugen. Don't forget to count your ticks as you rip. Here is all the sprites I ripped for my 1st character Pyron, before I remembered I should count ticks >_< http://www.freewebs.com/thedreamslayer/mas...ite%20sheet.rar It took me about a month to get all these. My sprite rips can be used by anybody too if someone wanted to use these for some reason.
  17. Heh try Psycho Shredder or Brolly. They are rediculously cheap. But I assume that Omega Tom Hanks by Shinryoga would be the hardest to beat. Because he's impossible to beat. He has no hitboxes and the F1 button won't even kill him
  18. Odd the ZcharCad site is working fine for me. My bad about the MEE link I gave a wrong link XD Here's the MEE link Remember that gif animation is only to get all the colors for your palette, it has nothing to do with animating it for the game itself. You are going to have to convert all the sprites into.pcx format and insert them into an sff file. Not to be rude but once you have all the sprites ready you need to start reading all the docs that came with mugen. They explain how to make sff, air, cmd, and all the other mugen files. And use KungFu man as your base that's what he is there for. Yes to make your own stages you will have to rip them as well. Stages and screenpacks are the easiest to make. You can always ask me anything if you get stumped anywhere along the way.
  19. Pretty much all stages are perfect. I'd suggest the Street Fighter and Darkstalker stages myself. But then again those are from my fav games so I am a bit biased.
  20. MEE ZCharCad Nah it just meant I was too lazy to tell you what you did wrong in cropping them yourself Besides the method you chose is much slower than using the MEE or ZCharcad programs. No it's just a hard to find mugen creating program. It's the one I use the most but many other people use MEE more. They are the best two without a doubt.
  21. Don't worry about cropping it yourself. Get Zcharcad or MEE. They have crop features. I haven't tried it yet but I was told if you put all the sprites in elecbyte's sprite maker program and crop them they will all maintian there correct axis. (One of the benefits of ripping from the debug is you can get the correct axis from each rip)
  22. http://www.freewebs.com/thedreamslayer/index.htm Here are my entries. I made all these sprites. The Morrigan sprites are a new stance I will soon animate and some redone jabs. Ken's are some of his new animations from SVC. I have 8 more of them to make. Sprites made by other people are allowed in this contest?
  23. Ken is punching because you pushed the A button:P You need to disable player 1 and player 2 if you are going to use the gif trick to acquire the full palette. Because you only want Iori's colors. Mugen chars are limited to 256 colors. Iori is the wrong color because you have not picked Iori as player 1. You picked Ken. You need to pick Iori as player 1 so that the debug object has the correct colors.Looks like you get to start over again Don't worry everybody messes up ALOT! You'll make many rookie mistakes while learning and have to start over again in many areas. But that will give you experience and make you a better creator. After about a month of this you'll start seeing why some creators get so ticked for there stuff to be stolen from them and someone get credit for anothers hard work. You'll only want to use the gif animator trick after you have ripped all the sprites including all sparks and fire effects. The animation trick is to acquire all the colors from each frame. That's why you don't want any extra characters or any other sprites on the screen besides Iori.
  24. I don't like Mame much anymore but meh. Knock yourself out. -Link Removed. Read board rules.-
  25. If your getting Iori ripped with nothing in the way to make it tougher to cut him out and if it is making an animation then you are obviously doing right Correct. All the shots you take should be in the screenshots folder in png format. Any version of Paintshop will do. When the faq was made it was before version 8 came out.
