I posted my opinion on restrictions in another thread, but I'll post them again (because in the other thread it sounds like I was attacking the ratings themselves). The restrictions placed on game purchases are rediculous. It's that simple. They don't keep the games from getting into that hands of children. All they do is inconvenience them, and force them to find different routes. I find it absurd that Jack Thompson actually wants to make people wait an extra year to play these games. AO has to be the most preposterous rating ever to exist. By the time you're 17, you probobly have friends that are 18 that could get the new AO rated games for you. I'm gonna go ahead and throw out a fun (made-up) fact here, every person that actually wants to buy an AO rated game has seen pornography. Every one of them. Not just some nude pictures, hardcore man on woman sex (not to discriminate against alternative lifestyle porn). Hell, a lot of them have probobly had sex. Yet Jack Thompson is in favor of recalling Killer 7 due to sexual content, then reshipping it with the notion that a one year large age group can no longer play it. And the conversation between Scott and Jack should be televised. I'm serious. You know what his conersation makes me think of? Triple Jenny. He's so sure he's right that he'll insult someone HE contacted rather than defend himself. Upton on the other hand is a relatively okay guy. But I stand by my view that the government should not censor things. Censorship is a bad thing. One of the worst aspects of government as a whole. It's not the government's place to determine what is and is not appropriate for minors. Such things should be decided by their guardians. On a final note, gamers uniting to lobby against a corrupt power hungry government isn't exactly what I had in mind.

My sleep pattern is whack, too. I fall asleep eventually, and wake up after about 8 hours. But how long I sleep varies, and affects when next I fall asleep. And you shouldn't skip breakfast, it's important.

House of the Dead is a zombie movie. It does not have plot, or theme, or morals. It has zombies, and people shooting zombies. It was brilliant.

Well, yeah, again, the ratings themselves don't need to be removed. They're capable of being a useful tool in determining a game's content. People just need to use them on their own rather than being forced to use them. I'm sick of getting carded whenever I try to buy a game. :\

Wait, what? I think you've missed my goal. My goal is to remove restrictions on purchasing goods. The rating system itself is just a tiny label in the corner of the box, I don't care about that. Enforcing a ratings system is what I'm against. While a world without censorship is stretching it a bit much, I believe that a country without it is possible. I suppose I was a bit misleading in my first post by directly stating a belief I didn't believe in. I'll edit that.

I liked House of the Dead. The show is retarded, most people find retarded things to be funny, that's just how it works. The only way to change that is with fire. Lots of fire.

If you don't want your kid to play it, you have to stop your kid from playing it (and I'm not saying he/she should be able to), that's your problem. These ratings don't keep kids from playing games any more than the games desensitize children. And as long as I'm bitching about crap, the FCC is bullshit, too. It's a free country, and I should be able to read, watch, or play, whatever the flock I want. The entire government is way more controlling than it should be.

All these ratings are crap. I don't think anyone who actually cares about what their kids do even looks at the ratings. I personally believe that the restrictions on ratings should be removed, all they do is force parents to be with their kids as they buy a game. Desensitization is bullshit, too. What sense are kids losing? I've lost a bit of my eyesight and hearing, but that's it. Games don't remove this "sense" people speak of, as it isn't inate in humans. It's something that has to be taught, and in most cases it just isn't.
