The marijuana party wants world peace. I don't see why they aren't gaining more momentum in the political struggle...oh wait, now I remember, it's christianity. Why can't everyone just gather 'round in a circle and partake in the glorious use of the happy plant?

[11/13/04] Phantasy Star Online
OverlordMondo replied to OverlordMondo's topic in 1Emulation.com Reviews [/reviews]
I've actually heard that that's a bad game. I hope not, because it shows promise. I'll also point out, that if you're playing with friends (not online with friends, mind you), PSO is actually a fair way to pass the time. You tend to care less about the games mishaps when you suffer through them together. -
[11/08/04] R-Type Final

Game looks great. I think there's a used copy at Gamestop, I might just have to pick it up. -
Name: Katamari Damacy Genre: Gumwad simulator System: PS2 First off, let me tell you that this game is quite a trip. Quite an acid trip anyway. I can't describe to you just how...see? I don't even have an adjective for it. It's too much of whatever it is. The game opens with your father, The King of the Cosmos, teaching you how to roll a ball around. Neato. Later, he goes for a frolick through the skies, and kinda accidentally breaks all the stars. Oh noes! It's your job, rather than his, to make new ones. How might you do that, you may be wondering. Well, first, you have to get a Katamari. That's a ball that everything sticks to, and everything stuck to it retains the property of stickiness, enabling an endless string of attachments. You control the ball with the joysticks ONLY. No annoying button combinations, just simple maneuvering. With your Katamari, you must collect enough matter to create a star. And everyone knows that Earth has the most stuff on it, so off you go!. You're dumped into some unfortunate families house, where you roll your 5 cm ball around to pick up things like pushpins, matches, and candy. But as stuff sticks to the ball, the ball begins to build up layers, and layers of stuff, allowing you to pick up bigger stuff! And you just keep rolling until time runs out, or until you complete your objective. In the later stages, you'll be rolling TONS of stuff onto this ball. And I mean literal tons here, maybe even megatons. I don't even want to spoil all the stuff that ends up on your ball for you. There's 10 main stages, where you gather enough things to create a star. And there are also other stages, where you try to gether specific types of objects, which are used to create constellations. About 20 total, you may be left wondering how long the game lasts. The answer: forever. You can spend a very long time perfecting your craft, and enjoy it, too. This is just something that never gets old. Also, in each stage, there's a "present". A little box containing an item you can use to decorate yourself. They're fairly well hidden, as I haven't found many of them yet. If you decide to find all of them, good luck. Multiplayer! It's not as fun as single player, unfortunatly, but it's still good, and fully functional. It's the stage you play on that's the problem. The stage itself is a set bowl, that widens as you grow. The items themselves vary, however. So it doesn't truly repeat itself often. And if you're competing against competent friends (as in friends who aren't abusing something) then it's still awesome! The music is amazing! I'm not exactly a fan of JPop, but it fits the game so well, you can't help but love it. Especially the main theme. That could be bouncing around in your head for a while. Sound good enough yet? To top it all off, it's only a 20$ game. You get all this trippy joy for only 20$. That's less than a sheet of Ecstasy, with the same effect. Reusable, too. Gameplay: 10/10 Music: 10/10 Graphics: 10/10 Control: 10/10 Overall: Perfect 10 You should play this. Now we're rollin'!

The Half-Life 2 News and Rumors Thread
OverlordMondo replied to Gryph's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
I heard a rumor that Half-Life 2 is actually going to be a turn based card game. Any truth to this? -
Well that's not quite the same then...
-
I support this idea. But what are the RSS feeds?

I actually miss the dude. It's all your Ian le Creme crap that's scarin' him off. Seriously, it's like everyone on the board is a complete ass to him.

Name: Phantasy Star Online Genre: RPG System: DC, Gamecube, XBox Your planet is in turmoil. Fearing apocalypse, you a ship on a mission to find more habitable living conditions. They land, and send back a signal of success! Now, Pioneer 2 is sent out. An immigration ship, saving your people from certain doom. But when you reach the planet...a tremendous explosion occurs near Pioneer 1's settlement! Communication cut off, "Hunters" are sent by the government to determine what went wrong during communication. What they find may not be what they were looking for... You are a hunter. Hunters come in three classes, Hunters (focus on melee weapons), Rangers (Focus on guns), and Forces (Focuses on magic). After choosing your class, you choose your race/gender. Races include Humes, Androids, and Newmen. Not every class comes with every race/gender however. There are only four combinations per class. That's a total of 12 different characters you can play, which pales in comparison to most open ended RPGs. There aren't a whole lot of options as far as appearance goes either. Which makes for a repetitive online experience. If you go towards weaponry, you get to choose from a whole 3 different moves. A normal attack, a hard attack, and an extra attack (which adds things like paralysis if you're weapon has it). Each branch of weaponry behaves differently. Technically. It ultimately comes down to short and long range attacks. If you edge more towards magery, you get to choose from a whole 11 attack spells. But some of them are just more powerful versions of others. So you only practically use about 6. If you're an android, you get to set up 3 different traps, though in a limited quantity. In the end, you'll be using the exact same attack pattern a lot. Either a three hit combo with a weapon, or one of three main spells for a Force. Which gets damn repetitive. There are 8 dungeons, total. Each one has 2 or 3 floors. In the more advanced dungeons, each floor is HUGE, sometimes having 30 rooms a piece. But the dungeons are, for the most part, static. The placement of the rooms is technically random, but the general layout is always the same. And there are only about 12 different rooms per floor. They're copied and pasted over and over again, so you'll be seeing the same rooms repedeatly, and often. To add to that, there's a fair list of quests. About 8 per dungeon. Which means you get to go through each dungeon 9-10 times. That's about 30 floors of the exact same rooms. It's so repetitive... Enemies...oi. There are about 10 different enemies for each of the first four dungeons. But there's a lot of skin swapping going on. And the second half of the dungeons just remixes the enemies and drops them back in. The bulk of the enemies don't do anything but shamble slowly toward you, either. You'll often fight about 20 enemies per room. Approximately 15 of those will be shamblers. Repetitive. But wait! There's more! There's FOUR difficulties! That means you get to go through all of it FOUR TIMES! The only difference is that the enemies stats have been raised. Oh joy. Lesse now... That's: 4 difficulties * 8 dungeons * 2.5 floors * 10 quests * (counting the main quest) 25 rooms * 20 enemies * 3 average combos/spells per enemy = 1200000 times you get to see the same attack animation. And that's not counting bosses. Who take a variable, but large amount of hits. That equates to you pressing the A button, 3.6 million times, just to attack mosters that are practically crawling towards you. And that's not counting all the times you'll miss. It doesn't end there, either. This game has an auto targetting system. That means that even when there's a horde of monsters shambling at you, the game knows you really want to attack this box over here. Make sure to thank it on it's way out. At least you can play online, where you get to cheat yourself through everything. Gameplay: 1/10 Music: 3/10 Graphics: 4/10 Control: 4/10 Overall: 3/10 You should play this if: you don't like thought. Now I remember what happened to the Dreamcast...

Allright, no ring shaped objects then. Find me an ad "where things just work".

Halo 2 Vs. Typical High School Stupidity

I'm all for that. I haven't actually played Battle Front yet. I figured it would suck because it was a Star Wars game where I couldn't be a Jedi. I might try it anyway. -

EA Probably Facing Class Action Lawsuit
OverlordMondo replied to Gryph's topic in Gossip Café [/offtopic]
Damn EA bastards. They're like the Microsoft of the gaming industry. -
Both of their personal military records kinda suck. I stopped paying attention to them. Bush caused hundreds of others military records to suck. In the way that their records were shredded.
-
It's a t-shirt, okay? On the front, it'll say, "One small step for a man", with a picture of George Bush taking a step toward the edge of a cliff, and then on the back it'll say "One giant leap for mankind', with a picture of Bush (and possibly others) falling off a cliff. Best idea ever.
-
So what's that then? The Bohemian Rhapsody? Crappy wannabe metal artists... And yes, LIVE is a step back for PC gamers. But a huge leap for console gamers, who were previously limited to multiplayer within their own homes.

Halo 2 Vs. Typical High School Stupidity

The Japanese never skip school for gaming because the government requires that games be released on weekends only. When big titles like Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy came out in Japan, so many people skipped school/work that it became a problem to the economy. I skip school for gaming all the time. It's just more important to me. -
A new comp is about 4 times as expensive and non portable. But whatever turns you on man.
-
Oi. Whatever...ya bunch a haters.
-
Doesn't look like a bad book to me... And its storyline is a lot deeper than that. You get into the politics of both races, their religion and culture, the history and purpose of the Halos, it's great. The evolutionary step is the ease of multiplayer access. The masses never used the internet for gaming before. But with the various console internet services, they're actually starting to get a dose of culture. I hope...

Amen to that brother! Canadian beer is surely better than American beer.

Truthfully, he's dead and the election is over, I don't know why people continue to talk about them. Whatever he did, he can't do it now. And the president isn't going to change for four years. Or will it...?
-
You don't like Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Megaman, Pokemon, PSO?
-
Well I'm not getting one at release, it's already reserved out. I'll try to pick one up by christmas though.
