cable splitters

On the other topic "Wireless Internet Sucks" I think Gryph mentioned about cable splitters. I decided to get one but I'm not sure which one to buy and also I m not sure how the cable splitter works. So for any of you guys who knows anything about it that can explain to me, would be great. Thanks.

If Your Talking About Splitting Cat5/6 Cables, Then Dont, THey Dont made 'Em Last Tyme I Checked, If Your Willing To Use A Cable, Just Use An Extreamly Long One Connected Through A Hub.

this is wut it says on mine "2 way splitter (5-900Mhz)" 1 input, 2 outputs, the main cable line in, 1 out connected to my modem the other out connected to a tv, i would assume this works for 2 modems and not jus 1 modem and 1 tv...
