Xbox regions?

A bloke at work bought an xbox, and he asked do the

disks have regions (remember like dvds had) or can any

game purchased anywhere in the world will work on the

xbox? I don't have xbox so I said I would ask.

Yes they do, standard US/JAP/PAL regions.

M$ gave the game makers the choice to use region lockout and all have done it tho there is one rare game that got released region free and even works on live which is the japan version of Street Fighter Anniversary.

 

capcom is currently planning a rerelease with the region lock but that won't come out till early january

If you install a new dashboard, you can play games of all regions.
