Question about playing imports on a dreamcast

I'm about to order a dreamcast (USA), I dont need a modchip to play PAL/JAP import games right?

Nope, all you need is a boot disc. That's the magic of the DC and the main reason why I got one.

Hold up...

 

Do not purchase a Dreamcast that is dated November or Newer...As Sega changed the bios in the November Models...Also you do not need the boot disk if you use the swap method.

 

A little info beforhand saves on the trouble later...

mine plays any bootable game with out a boot disk or swap method. mine is a release date model I got at midnight on the day they came out. and I've heard that even the post november ones will work with a boot disk.

most imports doesn't need the Utopia bootdisk, try it before using it.

Iso imports don't need bootdisks. Actual imports need a bootdisk.
