how do i make sprite sheets

i have a couple of animated gif,how can i make a sprite sheet using those,cause iam thinking of using the irrlicht demo to make sonic x-treme (tech demo) using gifs like these and 3d levels.

hmm... jus a guess.. open the gif in a program like adobe image ready to hav it show each frame
