kaillera prob with my fba compile

ok, had buddy who wanted to play a few rounds of mshvsf so i connected to kaillera, got on the server and started the game but heres the prob: after he joins, i start the game and after it loads i press start and i'm at the character select screen but for some odd reason on his side its like i haven't pressed start

 

now this only happens on my compile of fba as i tried another fba compiled by jimmy page and we're able to play fine. and my compile is the same version as his.

 

anyone have any ideas of what could cause this?
