future arcade emulation

a pentium 10 with a 20gb video card

Excellent answer. :)

You can play SF3 and MVC2 on Chankast using DC images but arcade is a no-go at this point.

I've said this quite many times, but one of the basic rules in emulation is that to achive playable speeds, you need a CPU that's 10x-15x faster than the CPU of the emulated system. That, and a good video card and a decent amount of RAM.

Just take a look at Chankast for some reference:

These are recommended specs:

- Intel Pentium 4, AMD Athlon XP or any other processor that supports SSE (2 Ghz or faster recommended)

- 256 mb RAM

- ATI Radeon or Nvidia GeForce video card (or any other card that supports hardware T&L)

- DirectX 9b

- Windows XP, 2003 or 2K (other Windows versions will not work)

This is a Dreamcast's specs:

200MHz Hitachi SH4 processor (360 MIPS)

16MB 64-bit SDRAM

800MB/sec system bus

PowerVR2DC (customized PowerVR2 based chip, for Dreamcast)

8MB 100MHz 128-bit SDRAM

1.6GB/sec video memory bandwidth

45MHz ARM7 + Yamaha DSP audio processor

2MB audio memory

50MB/sec bus to modem/BBA slot

1.2GB GD-ROM

1.2MB/sec transfer rate

VMU:

8-bit CPU

128k flash

~300 bytes on-die RAM

48x32 LCD
