A friend of mine tells me that the old Takeshi Kitano comedies are funny. I haven't seen any but I trust him.

Any Jet Li movies are quite nice too (except Swordman 2)

Sam Hui's movies are also great oldies.

Yeah, your friend is right. Just for kicks (although it isn't a comedy), watch Zatoichi.

anything with Takeshi Kitano is pretty good, except that one movie he did with Sik Sui Long, he had better chemistry with Jimmy Lin

Good old Beat.

 

He does have a few golden gems.

 

People should check out all the Zatoichi movies (execpt for movie 22, that one sucked).

I second Battle Royale 1 + 2.

 

Part 1 was better, but was still good.

He meant by " Asian cinema " not japanese.

Well, at least we covered our favorite movies. :rolleyes:

My guess is that since it's surrounded by water or some other vague crap like that. :rolleyes:
