Johnny Carson, the "Tonight Show" TV host who served America a smooth nightcap of celebrity banter, droll comedy and heartland charm for 30 years, has died. He was 79.

Even though I've only seen archival footage of his show, I loved it. He was a great comic who launched the careers of many comics we know today. Atleast he died peacefully after living a long and successful life.
