Jjangthekid Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Hey , I'm looking for an external hard drive. Could any of you guys recommend me some? I dont know which companies are good and what not. One more thing, is it better to get external or internal? thanks.
Ghosty Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I Think Extrenal Is Good, Cuz Of The Heat Isnt Inside The Comp, And Just Get An Internal And Get A Extrenal Box Thingy.
Inky Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 yeah get an external box, then if you wanna get a bigger drive later you can swap it out. external drives are more expensive then internal drives. so you'd preooly come out spending less on an internal and the external box.
supa_al Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I recommend a SimpleTech. It has been reliable for me. No prob what so ever....yet. External is cool because you can take your info on the go. But like garageink said, you can get an external box if you would like to upgrade later. If you are looking for a bargain on these kinds of things, check out: www.jr.com Really good deals(cheap prices) If you like Metal Gear, here is a box for you. http://www.techimo.com/articles/i82.html
Jjangthekid Posted January 30, 2005 Author Posted January 30, 2005 So, get an external hard drive + a external hard drive box? Sorry for my lack of knowledge on computer, what is an external hard drive box? Which make (maxtor, etc.) should I get?
supa_al Posted January 30, 2005 Posted January 30, 2005 An external hd box is a storage case where the hd lies in. Basically, a case for a hd.
Inky Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 yeah you would get an INTERANAL drive and an EXTERNAL box, the box converts a internal drive to an external one, usually with firewire or usb to connect to the pc. as for brands I have maxtors and seagates, never had any problems with them.try www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com for good deals on pc stuff.
