Daeval Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 The Minibosses are an old school video game music cover band. They do NES tunes in a punk/rock style on guitar, bass, and drums. In the past year or two, they've gained a sort of underground following on the net through links from the likes of penny-arcade and other big names. I got a chance to see them live last week, in a tiny little downtown club, and they were pretty damn good. The Mega Man 2 medley was by far the highlight of their short set. But thats just me. I liek old game tunes, but only the original, not some rock remix. Just kidding btw, I am tired waiting up for my friend to stop by, I saw these guys in tech TV, they seem pretty cool.

Heh.. seeing them live was definately an odd experience. There was something surreal about the change in context: from "I'm 8, and I'm sitting in my room in front of my nintendo" to "I'm in a smoky bar, 10 feet from a full grown man who is rocking out to a live band, drunk off his ass and wearing a power glove." And I think if they were really "remixes" I wouldn't like them so much, but they're pretty damn faithful to the originals, so it basically sounds like your NES got a mad upgrade to its midi software.
