Man Reads EULA, Man Gets $1000

"When Doug Heckman was installing a PC Pitstop program, he actually read the EULA. In it, he found a clause stating that he could get financial compensation if he e-mailed PC Pitstop. The result: a $1,000 check, and proof that people don't read EULAs (3,000 people before him didn't notice it). The goal of this was to prove that one should read all EULAs, so that one can see if an app is spyware if it is buried in the EULA."

 

That's just too cool. I think he's the first person ever to read the EULA.

I read one once but since then the EULA's sounded so familiar with the other programs with the same blah blah blah.

I stipped reading EULAs long ago. Wasn't worth the effort... the man just got lucky.

I read the one for UT2004 on the train once. Its in the back of the book.

Now that the point has been made, no one is going to do the same thing again. you know everyone is going to be scouring the pages of their software, trying to find something in the EULA to try and make some cash.
