Corn99 Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 i got norton system works it took away all the harmful stuff right, everything seem great until i get ie pop ups no matter what program iam using and it seems nothing detects it.i could live with pop-ups *start crying* but they annoy the hell out of me.if any can help it would be great thanks in advance.
Gryph Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Get Firefox. It still blocks out most pop ups. I still haven't gotten any yet but some people are.
Corn99 Posted February 25, 2005 Author Posted February 25, 2005 no but iam using firefox but what ever triggeres the ie pop ups start when i log on with any name.
Gryph Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 That means you have some major spyware. What anti-spyware program do you use?
L.S.D Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 I use IE and install Google Toolbar. They can block pop-ups effectively too
Corn99 Posted February 25, 2005 Author Posted February 25, 2005 i would say minor adware cause it only shows pop ups for like the 1 min then stops bothering ,i have those free spyware tools dont remember which but this is just harmless cause norton took all the bad crap out.this would be classified as annoying.
Robert Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 (edited) Are they pop-unders? There was a thread about this vulnerability somewhere. *edit - here: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=12029 if the popups just turn up out of nowhere, and you're not even running your browser, it's either messenger spam, or you've still got some adware in your computer. Agozer Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Yeah, sounds like pop-unders to me. Firefox still blocks "normal" popups, but pop-unders are just plain evil. There's not much you can do about those.
Lucandrake Posted February 25, 2005 Posted February 25, 2005 Ad-Aware usually works for me, but your probably tried that already didn't you?
