Well the F.E.A.R. multiplayer beta test was released to people with FilePlanet subscriptions. So now the screenshots and reports on game performace are coming in.

This is where I read about impressions of the beta:

Now what's scary is the performace issues. I know it's in beta so it's not optimized but just read some of these quotes from VE3D.

The net code was VERY good, i was playing on a server with 120ping and 60 ping and both felt the same.

...

The one problem i did come across is the game did lag alot on my system.

a64 4000+ 6800gt 1gig duel channel ram.

I could run it at Low-med detail at 1024x768. avg fps was around 20.

I asked around and people using ati cards did not seem to have this issue. And not everyone using nvidia had the problem but a few did. I guess its a bug?

Now is the time to get your Newer video cards, folks. My P4 3.4/1GB PC 4000 DDR/SB Audigy 2/ATI 9800XT chocked on this game big time.

HONESLTY, this is the first game that brought my system to its knees at only 1024x768. I have to run it at either 1024x768 at Low detail OR 800x600 at Medium detail.

Just for kicks, I ran it at High detail without AA at 1024x768 and averaged 7fps and got the notice "95% of game ran below 25fps. You should lower your graphic settings."

have an ASUS A7V8X-X with 1 GB RAM, Dual 160 GB HDD, Audigy Gamer, Athlon XP 2800+ and a 6800 GT(BFG). I had good frame rates(28-35) at max detail @ 1024 x 768.

Here are my system specs:

2ghz AMD Barton

512mb pc2700 ram

Ati 9600 256mb

Unfortunately I can't run it at full detail at 1024...I clicked auto-detect then boosted the particle effects and particle bouncing back up to max. It runs pretty smoothly, maybe about 30fps.

As you can see, there is a lot of variation in performace. But I think it's clear that an upgrade is in order sometime this year...
