Z-Neo Posted March 5, 2005 Posted March 5, 2005 I was wondering, after seeing all of the hacks that some MAME variants can play. Are the hacked games basically the same as using the IPS patches that can be applied to some of the games in Mame Plus, or are they something totally different?
Z-Neo Posted March 6, 2005 Author Posted March 6, 2005 Thank you, Gryph. Would you happen to know of any sites that might have some IPS patches other than the ones I can get from the MamePlus site?
Gryph Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 Hmm...no I don't. But people can make IPS patches for you (I don't know how to) but others here are quite proficient in it.
Agozer Posted March 6, 2005 Posted March 6, 2005 The rude generalization of creating IPS files would be the following: 1. Get an an unaltered file.2. Alter the file yourself (via hexediting or whatever method) or find a file that already has the changes you want.3. Get an IPS patcher and tell it to create an IPS file. The program then compares the data between the two files and dumps the "difference" data to an IPS file.
