Alpha
By Robert PatrickOf the Post-Dispatch03/26/2005 St. Louis police arrested two people early Friday morning after following a trail of stolen meat to their door. A witness called 911 about 3:30 a.m. Friday and told police that two men and a woman were behind Soll's Gateway Market in the 1200 block of Kingshighway, pushing a shopping cart filled with meat, according to the arrest warrant. Officer Theophilus Buford went to the market and saw a broken window and a hole in the brick wall, then went to the address given by the witness and saw a shopping cart. After following a trail of small packages of ground beef to a nearby apartment door, Buford knocked and saw more meat packages when Yolanda R. Woods, 34, opened the door, court documents said. Police found Darryl Dampier, 44, inside the apartment surrounded by additional packages of meat. Dampier and Woods were charged with second-degree burglary and stealing over $500. More than 200 pounds of meat worth more than $500 were taken, including rib tips, spare ribs, turkey breasts and raccoon, the warrants say. The owner of Soll's declined to comment.Who steals meat from grocery stores? Buy your own meat if you want to have a barbecue. Sometimes you'll never know why people do the things they do. Z-Neo
And when did Agent Doggett from the X-Files start working for a newspaper? You'd think the culprits would have picked up the dropped meats to keep from leaving a trail , unless they figure they'd be nice and share it with any stray dogs or homeless people in the area of the market.
