Best messenger?

I'm not sure which one is the, but I use AIM.

I'm using MSN. My question is, how does someone contact me, or how do I contact somebody? How do I know my name and password have been accepted by the system?

I've installed Trillian. It asked for my msn account name, so I entered my.net email and password.

 

Now its just sitting there, apparently ready to go?

 

What do I do now?

Is the Trillians main window (Contact List) visible? If it is, are any of the colored dots at the bottom greyed out or not? If they are, go to File --> Connection Manager and connect to the services you want. Then start adding contacts.
