My need 4 speed 5 game worked well with my win 98.

I have a copy of need for speed 5 porsche unleashed. I used to play it on my pc when i had windows 98 SE and a 64 meg graphics card,

 

Now that i have windows xp professional and a 128 meg graphics card,

i can't run the game anymore.It freezes on the games title screen.

 

I found alot of my older games don't seem to work on xp.

I have a 128 meg Geforce FX 5200 graphics card.I was looking forward tp playing my older games with their graphics maxed out.

What might be the problem?.

Try running it in Win98 compatibility mode.

How do i do that?.I am new to xp.

Right click on the EXE and go to Properties. There should be a Compatibility tab in there. Select Win98.

Porsche Unleashed not working straight up on XP?

Talk about wierd, I've run Hot Pursuit on XP without any compatibility mode used.

I don't have this game though, but it's still surprising.

I switched it to win 98 mode.Now the game plays but the graphics are chunky (as if my 128 meg graphics card is not detected).

And the frame rate is shocking.

What could be wrong.

Need for speed hot pursuit 2 works fine.Not need for speed 5 porsche unleashed.

Have you got the full version or a cracked/warez version? Because some of my old cracked games don't work on XP.
