i l l m a t i c Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 (edited) AOL has decided to replace AIM with a new version called Triton. People will still make fun of you for being on AOL, but the name “Triton” sounds a lot cooler than AIM-II. Triton introduces an entirely new, simplified user interface that adopts contemporary elements such as tabbed message windows to switch between different modes of communication. Users can also corral all chat sessions into a single, tabbed window dubbed "IM Catcher." http://www.betanews.com/article/AOL_Testin...ient/1114480209 Screenshot Edited April 27, 2005 by Xx1LLMAT1CxX
Weirdy Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 interesting, it just looks like a little ass chat room I hope they put better looking emots and better away messaging thingie
Daeval Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Interesting, but I can't help but feel that it's going to be more bloated and less customizable (from a technical standpoint, not an AOL user's standpoint). This is based mostly on the kinds of PR buzzwords used in that article.
Diso Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 Looks ok. Although it looks like the aim window is loaded up with useless things that will only result in taking up more memory
Gryph Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I tried out the beta and it sucks. I think Triton was on my harddrive for a grand total of 5 minutes.
Rag Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 looks ok but i have a feeling noone will like it and they will all want AIM
Daeval Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 I still say Mozilla/the Firefox folks should make an IM app. Light, easily configurable, and modular... That's all we need, not all this AOL crap.
LoRd_SnOw Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 eh i think i'll stay with my trillian im not exactly so enthusiastic about Aohell *cough* Aol i mean.

Inky Posted April 27, 2005 Posted April 27, 2005 if firefox made a IM I might actually be persuaded to use IM. well untill the first time some stranger bugged me to chat.
