TheSnake
Hey there, Today when i surfing the www for the nintendo DS system, somehow this Mad idea went into my head:building a operative system for the DS console... there we should be able to do most things we do on windows, like writing small documents, calculator inputs, time and agenda, hear music, and watch movies, and many more funcionalities that could just be like installed..im talking about something like a DS cartridge that would work has a hard drive with the OS instaled on it,and we could just attach another cartridge or a MMC card to that one that would be controlled by the OS(it could word simillar to a 3,5'' disket on a PC). To start that idea i would like to start devloping the operative system, so i would need some programmers that know the DS programming language, i am used to software programing two, i would just need any windows tool to program DS code and learn some DS programing language. anyone interested can just post here or contact me to my mail account: thessnake@gmail.com sorry for my english.. Gryph
I didn't know where to put this so I put it in handheld emulation. And I think there is a Linux build for the DS.

And I think there is a Linux build for the DS.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> sorry i had some troubble posting, just afther i post i found i posted it in the wrong place.. a linux build for the DS?.. never heard of it.. but i just think this idea would be revolutionary for the DS, just think on doing on a portable console that u could do most things u do on a computer, add/remove software, hear music, watch movies, just imagine how that could change even more the way u use the DS system, and the DS makes it possible, we have the foundations, now we build te house. Gryph
http://www.dslinux.com/ But yeah, it would be cool to use the DS like that. Also, I decided to keep the thread in CA open because it's not really about Handheld emulation, Dualis, or DSemu.

Ryuken
something like the Pogoshell for the gba, for the DS would be enough for me,
NukeFall
Putting an OS on a game consol completly eliminates the pourpose of a game console. If you wanna do all those stuff do them on a computer and play games on the DS >> (A pet peeve of mine is having a game machine pourposly do anythig besides well playing games >>)

Shibathedog
Uhhh...I tried something like this with an NES once, except it was a Harddrive with all NES games on it, that didnt really work so i used a flash chip with all NES games on it, It should have worked except i couldnt find a writer that would write to a chip that size, i think theres a way to do it with a serial port though...that project kinda died halfway through. Maybe i should start it back up.
Lucandrake
Well puting a os in the ds sounds like a good and interesting idea. But like Nukefall said, I rather sit on my chair viewing everything I do on a moniter then a handheld with 2 screens the size of my one hand. Shibathedog
Well yeah, but its not meant to replace your PC, just for doing things you could do on your PC, away from your PC. Kinda like the whole idea behind a PDA
