dbeamer
I was wondering if anyone has had a Dreamcast that won't recognize controllers. I picked up a Dreamcast at Goodwill for $5.99 and figured if it didn't work at least I would have a few more controllers. Anyways it boots fine but on the date setting screen it doesn't respond to the controllers. I have used the controller from my other Dreamcast as well as testing the two new controllers on my other Dreamcast so I know all three controllers will work. I assume this is a problem with the controller port. Is it something that can be fixed?
Gryph
I guess that's why it was at Goodwill for $6. It probably isn't worth the effort to figure out how to fix the port but if someone here would know how to do it it would be BobRedthorp or Shibathedog. Shibathedog
i got a Dreamcast that worked for 1 dollar before, so meh Anyway, Open up your Dreamcast (follow my GD-ROM guide on how to do that) and take a picture of the inside (with the Drive facing up) and ill look and see if anything is disconnected or worn or whatever. BobRedthorp
Blown controller units are quite common too, I know people who have actually bought broken consoles of ebay cheap and simply replaced the unit. You could try that.
Shibathedog
the systems themselves are cheap already hehe Im guessing the ribbon cable came out/is worn out. But id have to look at it, theres a few easy fixes that might fix it.
