Can i run p3 800 and 866 dual on this board? 2. Some ppl been telling me that i can if i step down the 866 to 800, a] is it true that i need the same speed procs to run dual?b] can i run it if i step the 866 to 800 so its the same speed? ken_cinder Posted August 9, 2005 Share Posted August 9, 2005 There are not seperate bus' for the processors, thus they DO need to run at the same speed.As far as I know you CAN use differently clocked processors, and they will default to the clock speed of the lesser, meaning you are FORCED to stepdown the 866. The bios controls all of that, so your best option is hitting the Asus website and downloading the manual for the motherboard. The bios may not support certain things, and you'd want to make sure first.You can get a PDF for EVERY motherboard they've ever made. goldenboy Posted August 10, 2005 Share Posted August 10, 2005 also remeber to set up the dual processor first in the bios prior installing windows,same whit the pentium 4 hyper theading cause you can't set up the dual procesor after windows is installed it wona mess up windows.
