Official Nintendo Revolution Controller Revealed!

Well, IGN has finally released the pictures of the new Nintendo Revolution controller. This time it's official and boy is it shocking. All that wait and I've never seen anything like it. To be honest, I don't even know what Nintendo was thinking when one of their guys suggested this! It looks like a regular remote control with some added joystick with an umbilical cord. Are they out of their minds!?!?!? I really hope they can change my mind because I'm very disappointed. Whoever came up with this idea should have been fired on the spot. What's Nintendo coming to now of days? This is surely a revolution!

EDIT: After more reading of the technical specs, I may be changing my mind a tad bit. But I still believe this is a terrible design. Their intentions are good, but that's about it. Please read the links below for more information.

Before anyone starts professing how stupid this controller is, please read these: http://cube.ign.com/articles/651/651275p1.html

And the 1up link in the other controller thread. This controller will either be a huge success or a huge failure.

i think it looks cool. but im not so sure. i thought the Nintendo64 controller was weird. but this one wins all the weird awards.

Whoever came up with this idea should have been fired on the spot.

i think its the same guy that came out with those so called weird colorful lookalike animals called Pokemon

It looks to be pretty darn stupid.

I fully agree it looks stupid, but I just have edited my post because their intentions are good. Thanks to Gryph for the links; I've added them as well.

Here's an example...

In a future Mario Kart, players could conceivably accelerate by pushing the controller forward and decelerate by pulling it back again. Sharp turns could be made by twisting left or right on the pointer. It might even be possible to turn the pointer on its side and hold it NES style while retaining some depth perception control functionality. Imagine a next-generation Pilot Wings, meanwhile, where the pointer essentially becomes a flight stick, the A button a weapon discharge, and the underbelly B trigger an accelerator. Precise control without a complex configuration exactly as Nintendo intends it.

Crap, you know what? With the controller turned that way it sort of helped me see how it can be used on its own as a controller for some of the older stuff they will have available (nes/snes). Still silly though but a little more functional now in my eyes.

Are you guys reading the articles or just looking at the pictures and thinking that's all the controller is? It's a modular design (for dumb people: it can be fit into a more conventional shell). There is more to the controller than a lack of buttons. Although, it does look like it would get tiring to use for a long time.

I'm not going to write this off just yet till I get my own hands on time with it.
