Will this be able to send game demos and homebrew applications to the DS without having to have one of those wireless card with the special chipset?

Posted

Possibly.

At the moment all this will allow you to do is connect to a wireless network and so get on the internet.

This wireless network is usually generated by a router or 'hot-spot'.

These can't really transmit files, at least in the manner your suggesting.

Perhaps someone will be able to develop a DS wifime 'basestation' i.e. a DS transmitting and serving homebrew and demos.

Another idea would be to have an SMB browser which can load.nds files from a shared PC drive.

So that means you will still need to use a passme to use this?

Yes

You will need to load whatever homebrew program with WiFi support as you normally would.

This will not change any of the current requirements for booting homebrew software.

Yes, this is just an interface for homebrew apps to access the internet; You will still need a way to run the homebrew app (i.e. passme/wifime/flashme)

I've "pinned" it here, for now. I will eventually add a more complete FAQ thread once we get more of the initial questions asked.
