NOODLESTYLE Posted October 9, 2005 Posted October 9, 2005 Using a Crossover Cable, can someone please help me figure out how to connect one PC to another? I'm trying to do so and it's not working. Anybody?

GogoAckman Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Simply like any other connection, you must just have two differents ip adress.If you have a problem to do a connection, it has maybe something to do with your cable.
Madman Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 Make sure both are in the same workgroup.Both should run same Windows version. 98 has probs with XP, but XP can 'do' 98. Both on XP Pro would be best.In system settings point to Network, choose properties, then TCP/IP-Properties. Make one 192.168.0.1 and one 192.168.0.2.Reboot. Browse network neighbourhood by right clicking it, choosing explorer, then search for the other comp. If it shows up, you did it. Maybe make sure some drives are accessible networkwise.

Robert Posted October 10, 2005 Posted October 10, 2005 I've connected 3 pc's (2x w2k and 1x win95) by using a hub and normal cat5 network cables. Each has an IP address like what Madman said. It all works fine. As James said, what OS is on each pc? If you've got XP SP2, the firewall could be blocking communications.
