Shibathedog
okay i figured it out, you type Windows XP Home in that box (or whatever you want your OS to be called) and then when it says Load Options type /fastdetect I dont think ive ever screwd up a computer this bad hehe If only my fricken serial would have worked i would have been able to finishg the install and go dual boot though
Agozer
I thought /fastdetect is automatically included in the load/boot options... You messed up pretty good, but it's great that you figured it out.
Shibathedog
yeah because of my crappy half install of 2003, i Reformatted the HDD that i installed 2003 to, but for some reason it wont let me get it out of the MBR through MSConfig, is there some alternate app/dos command im forgetting that i can use to get it out? tiger1020x
yeah because of my crappy half install of 2003, i Reformatted the HDD that i installed 2003 to, but for some reason it wont let me get it out of the MBR through MSConfig, is there some alternate app/dos command im forgetting that i can use to get it out?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> for future reference in the recovery console its fixmbr and fixboot.. but once you reformat all is gone.. as far as server 2003 is concerned, once installed it's not very good at all like all other ms products.. if you do get it installed expect yourself to be looking for netcard drivers and sound card drivers.. if you want to try with a new os o got bored with xp, you could try an open source live cd that won't require any harddrive install....if you want to run a webserver look into apache its free and will do the job fine on xp.. Shibathedog
Yeah i did the fixmbr and fixboot and that still didnt work :/ im just going to install SuSe 10 Pro on my other HDD but i need a DL DVD to burn it on. I tried Apache but my ISP blocks port 80 or something like that so it didnt work :/ All i really want to run is an FTP though
olaf
The port blocking may be caused by your router -- if you happen to have one. If it's a LinkSys, it's pretty easy to figure out, from personal experience. Running an FTP is fairly easy, check out WebAttack's freeware dump, they have some nice FTP/HTTP server software.
