OK, I'm getting a Graphics card for Christmas, but it's a suprise. I wonder which one it will be. I haven't been in the Gfx card scene in a while so I won't know if it's good or not. I'll tell what one i get on X-Mas day. And when I do, I need you guys at 1Emu to tell me if it's good or not. Currently my GFX is:

Chaintech GeForce4 MX 440 64MB AGP4X TV-out

It's horrible, I know.

Also, tell me if it will be a bottleneck to my other specs:

AMD Athlon XP 2800+ 2GHz w/ Thermaltake Cooling system

Creative SB Live! 5.1 16-bit sound

ASUS A7V600 Skt A Mobo (BTW, The mobo is AGP8X)

LG CD-reader

Onboard 3Com Gigabit LOM Network card

17" Philips 107S CRT Standard monitor.

Thanks,

-GCFreak :-)

EDIT: RAM: 512MB PC2700

PSU: 400W

How much RAM do you have?

Your system looks pretty good to me. Id upgrade to a DVD or at least CD burner though, but that doesnt really have anything to do with games running (cept for the fact that alot of games are released on DVD now, so maybe at least a DVD reader?)

nVidia 6600 GT is a very decent card. I dout your system would limit it much (that is assuming you have 1.0GB of ram).

nVidia 6800/GT or ATI x800xl could work well too.

Speaking of graphics cards how good is the ATI radeon x1300?

That what dad got me for my christmas present.  :P

Not that good. Actually, quite crap, since the X1300 is prettm much equivalent to the old x300 but with a newer architecture. It'll probably play the latest games fine on a low resolution and/or on the lowest settings. Don't bother trying to enable AA or AF though.
