in the future the age might be lowered again. so that the age of consent goes to say 14. (in some places in europe the age of consent is 16, compared to the us standard of 18).

Yes, that argument is fair enough! I read the definition of lolicon on Wikipedia but I didn't find it frightening though. It might be because nothing about Japanese culture surprises me much anymore!
