captain_duck
What asus card do you have ? Is it on this list ?: http://ralink.rapla.net/ If yes, you can run a soft AP, more information on how to do that here: http://wiki.pocketheaven.com/Ralink_niwifi

Warlord698
it needs to be on that list to be able to do soft_AP period, so in fact your card would have to be WiFiMe compadable, or you can get a router
Öhr GmbH
ive got a router, but the quality of the router to my room isnt good.any other software avaible to use my wlan-card as an ap?
Warlord698
not to my knowledge. have you looked up ways to direct antennas to certain directions. they have printouts out there where you just cut the stuff out, stick foil to it, and put on the antenna. it should bump up your signal a bit, if router has 2 antennas put on one of them (one closest to room). if ya need info on that, just remember, Google is Man's best friend. Sektor
Some asus cards (the ones that only work on asus m/:P can still be Access Points but they don't have ralink chipsets, so you can't use the gigabyte SoftAp software. You need to use the ASUS software. Edited January 29, 2006 by Sektor
