Hey all. I've got an MKV file... two audio streams. I've installed the directshow filter for MKVs... video plays fine.. the first audio stream (Jap) plays fine...

Except when I switch to the English one I get 'This pin cannot use the supplied media type.' from WMP.

Any ideas?

PS The stream that is not playing is OGG, but Iv got the OGG filters and normal OGGs and OGMs work fine.

Yea, VLC can often play files perfectly when other media players can't...

Personally I use MPC with my mkv and ogm files, and can switch nice and easily between audio tracks with a simple right click.

yeah VLC pretty much plays everything, i use it alot

Oddly enough the only things it has problems playing, play fine in Winamp, which is weird because winamp video kinda blows.

But then again, it only has problems on my 500MHz laptop HA, on my PC its fine

Codec packs are teh ghey......I have yet to encounter one that does proper checks for already installed codecs and leaves em alone instead of overwriting them with older ones in most cases! I had one pack screw over my MP3 and DivX codecs as well as f**k my Directshow up so badly I couldn't get it working again.

You're damn lazy if you can't install standalone codecs for what you need.

I repeat, codec packs are TEH GHEY! ;)

ffdshow supports almost every format on the face of the earth, apart from MKVs and OGMs. That's the only 'pack I need.
