Why would it fail?

 

Lesbians are stereotyped as women who think like men; men like hentai so therefore lesbians would like hentai too.

 

Since CLAMP are described as lesbians; it would make sense for them to produce hentai since they, being lesbians would like hentai.

 

Since the final conclusion has not happened; CLAMP are not lesbians.
