It may be a market tactic. The Xbox is not doing very well over in Asia. The may have a deal with Sony to save up on distribution. Could be...

i think what this means is they might work together on a game or something, its probably nothing huge

The only thing I can think of is microsoft helping out sony in making ps3's for shipment date. The more to sell the better, no matter how many ps3's sony makes. They will be sold out by the end of the day on it's release date.
